I recently visited the Slug and Lettuce restaurant in Bristol with my family, and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of our expectations. As regular patrons of Slug and Lettuce, we were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food we received. The presentation was abysmal, resembling nothing more than heated leftovers. The standout disappointment was the burger sliders we ordered. Instead of the advertised miniature burgers, we were served a single burger that appeared to have been haphazardly chopped into four uneven pieces. To make matters worse, one of the pieces was even served upside down. The overall quality of the burger was shockingly poor, with a stale and greasy taste that was far from what we had anticipated based on the menu description. Also, mac 'n' cheese, which was anything but fresh. It appeared to be stale, old, and clearly reheated from a previous batch that had been made a long time ago. The taste and texture were equally disappointing. Additionally, some of the garlic bread slices we ordered were burnt, further contributing to our unpleasant dining experience. What saddened us the most was that we had chosen Slug and Lettuce based on our previous positive experiences with the brand. We had always regarded Slug and Lettuce as a reliable choice for a satisfying meal and enjoyable dining experience. However, the experience we had today was a complete departure from the high standards we associated with the brand. It was not only disappointing but also highly unexpected.

Had a bottomless brunch here for my b day yesterday..we were booked at 515 but didn’t sit down or have a drink till nearly 530..but had so many drinks after that! We were all ordering 2 each and they took no time to come..bottles of Prosecco on the table (nice touch we hadn’t ordered it but most got drank) 24 shots were also brought to us! That was 2 each…young waitress was brilliant..didn’t catch her name..but..the food was not good. My chicken burger had a lovely taste with all the flavours but my chicken was cold and the bacon was black, same with all the others..my chips were ok but others were cold. The ones that had the bacon cheeseburgers weren’t impressed either one of them her burger was black!! And one had the haloumi burger but said the haloumi tasted like it had been cooked an hour b4 and the mushroom was slimy…I know it’s very busy in there but it’s not hard to bring out a table at a time of fresh hot meals…not cold and burnt…

Wandered in after drinking in Commercial Rooms hoping to get some above Wetherspoons quality food - sorely disappointed! Had Chicken and Bacon burger plus fries. There was about a 20+ min wait on food (I was warned fair enough) but this was on a quiet Monday afternoon couldn't have been more than 10 people in there. Onto the food. Fries were presented in a small steel ramekin, couldn't have been more than 10 of them. Some were overcooked to the point of being able to snap them in half. The breast of chicken in the burger was fine if on the small side. But the other ingredients were really stingy. Just 1 lettuce leaf and one rasher of very anorexic bacon. Considering cost even with my 25% stonegate discount, very poor value. No problem with the staff decor or drinks. So if you want drinks then this place probably ok. Just don't expect good value food. Cheers Matty.

Shocking! Really bad afternoon tea, ruined whole experience of 50th birthday celebration. We were given half of a cocktail as it wasn't finished off properly, a cocktail not served nicely as it was shown/advertised when we had to sit and watch other people have theirs more nicely (a lady on the table in front of us had hers served the right way) how it was advertised, we also didn't have all of the right cutlery. They wouldn't have said anything, they didn't say anything at all about it either when we ordered or when it was brought to us. Instead we felt the need to complain. We paid for an experience that we didn't actually get all of, and given that we had to pay a £10 deposit in advance to secure the booking and we had put that it was for a special occasion, I don't think it was very good at all. They only sought to rectify it after and when we complained, even though it meant we had to change what we wanted as a replacement instead of having the cocktails that we had originally chosen the way they should have been served. And then, to top it all off, considering we had the table booked on our reservation for two hours, three quarters of an hour before our table reservation ran out, they asked us if we'd finished and how we were paying, like they couldn't wait to get rid of us fast enough. Would not go back there again unless they were able to show us how our experience should have been done. Especially as after the rectification, which wasn't ideal but because we didn't want our experience to be any more ruined, we went along with, but then we were made to feel like they wanted us out as soon as possible. If you are looking for a special occasion afternoon tea, it's not a place that I would recommend at all based on our experience. Very very disappointed. It was a shame because it's very pretty inside and the place looked lovely but we were made to feel not very good about the experience. They let themselves down a lot.

Dear Slug & Lettuce, thanks for replying. We didn't shout but had to raise our voice as there was a lot of noise generally and we would have been happy to move to one side somewhere more private to have the conversation. We asked to speak to the manager which is when your other colleague came over to see to us, which is why someone other than the server came over to try to resolve the issue. And the server did not seem uncomfortable when he came back over to us several times after. We were also made to feel really uncomfortable. It wasn't just one cocktail that was affected it was both of ours, two different ones. No one mentioned when we booked that if we wanted certain drinks we would have to get in quick or as to how many were available or not, and nor was it mentioned that some items on the other cocktails were not available at the point of ordering. We booked for an afternoon tea and was only able to get the time slot we could at the point of booking. The table we were offered originally was tucked in very much out of the way and the only reason why we moved was because we wanted to soak up some more of the atmosphere. I am not quite sure why you felt it appropriate to mention that as we had no complaints about the table itself! Your server, if he had acknowledged the drinks issue when he took our order or even when he brought them over to us, then it wouldn't have escalated. It was for a very special occasion. And we shouldn't have had to ask the server about things in the first place, if he would have told us or acknowledged that we wouldn't be able to have what we wanted in the way we were expecting to receive it. We did acknowledge that you tried to make it right, but the free cocktails were you making the situation right, not us just obtaining free cocktails and we were therefore still quite entitled to enjoy our cocktails whether they were free or not, for the whole duration of the time out table was booked out for. So you tried to resolve the issue but then inflamed it...

The worst experience I have had ever! It all started when we enter the restaurant and there was lady, that we assume was manager, she looked at us and just walked away without greeting us, then one of team members run to great us and seat us down. When we found our table we realised that the guy provided us just with drink menu and we tried to get a waitress attention, when we finally did and ask for food menu she just replied: “ you need to order from app”. This was our first lunch at Slug&Lettuce so we have never downloaded any apps so we tried to order with a waitress. When we again got waitress attention we ask if we can order with her. She with an unhappy face said “yes I will be with you in sec”. We order and within time the girl came back and said that the dish my boyfriend order was out of menu, which was fine and he changed his order. Then she came back and said if we are paying by card or cash, I said “cash”. Then she replied it will be 39£ something. I was shocked that I still haven’t received any food or neither drink and we need to pay, which I believe is due to sitting outside next to exit. But at least she could describe it. I ask her if I can see the bill, the girl was shocked when I ask that and run away from table. Later she came back with paper with written items and amounts, which clearly is not a receipt. I ask her what was that and she said: “ she cannot print the bill till it hasn’t put thru the til.” But we have been there already for 10-15min from ordering time and the order hasn’t been placed?!? Anyway we paid with cash as we just wanted to quickly go thru this and later the girl came back with change and the receipt. Anyway food was good and drinks as well. But for sure the team need to work on their hospitality skills and manager should be on top of it not just caring for her looks and walk around like princess! We had 2 tables around that complained as well and manager didn’t even came out to deal with it, just the waitress running around. Thats not her job so maybe GM of Slug&Lettuce think about the manager who was working on Wednesday 23 of June, as we believe she is not correct for her position! As well want to mention that waitresses dealing with food should tie there hair up as its food safety! Anyway it was our lunch brake and we both work in hospitality and we have never seen something like this for sure we are not returning back after all this! Didn’t even want to give 1 star, should...

I booked the cocktail making masterclass here for my sister’s hen party. We arrived at 2.50 for the 3pm class. We were ignored by staff, whilst we waited by the bar, when I eventually found a staff member and let them know we’d arrived for the masterclass. He pointed to the 2 tables and said “it doesn’t start till 3, but you can sit there.” We were left without any service. We had to ask for Prosecco that should have been given on arrival & were given one bottle, not enough for 12 people! The toilets were disgusting and there was vomit everywhere. One of our group informed staff immediately, and when she went to the toilet over an hour later, they were still in exactly the same state. We had to go over the road to use the toilets in Revolution, as there was only one cubicle that was fit for use here. The class started late, but when it eventually did, the actual making of the cocktails was okay. I booked a buffet package upgrade with our masterclass & had to ask for the food to be brought out, as none arrived. When it eventually did, all that came was food from the standard package; nachos and chips. We were sat on 2 tables of 6. One table was given 2 bowls of nachos, and 2 bowls of chips, but the other table only received one of each. Which was nowhere near enough for 6 people. The jagerbomb train never happened either, but at this point we were just wanting to leave anyway. The staff were very dismissive and the whole experience was a total disappointment. The manager tried to make out like she was doing us a favour, by saying we didn’t have to pay the extra £65 for the buffet upgrade, that we didn’t receive in the first place. She eventually disappeared off, then came back to agree that we did not need to pay the remaining balance left to pay after the deposit, which was appreciated, but still doesn’t make the experience & service that we received any better. We were all really looking forward to it and had had it booked for a long time and it was a...
