If you're after a pub that feels like a warm hug wrapped in eccentric charm, The Coronation is your spot. This isnât your polished gastropub with linen napkins and hushed tonesâthankfully. Itâs a down-to-earth haven where the vibe is relaxed, the crowd is funky, and the stars arenât just behind the bar.
The Real Royalty: Izzy, Zac, and the Animal Aristocracy
The staff here are nothing short of delightful. Izzy and Zac in particular bring a kind of effortless warmth that makes you feel like a regular even if itâs your first visit. Friendly, attentive, and always up for a chatâtheyâre the heartbeat of the place.

Read moreNothing to like about this place. Went in yesterday 13th December. Not one single Christmas decoration. Manager lady said she can't be bothered. I ask myself why am I bothering going in there. This pub has gone from bad to worse. The layout and atmosphere actually reminds you of COVID lockdown. Truly horrible. Cheap and nasty food for those with low eating-out budgets. Nothing good. Sad and outdated range of beers no proper lager. Very disappointed. It used to be a good pub years ago. Avoid it if you can.
Update.. Summer 2024....closed most of the time because the manager finds it 'mentally draining' to talk to people. If it could only change in to a pub that would sell decent lager, not home-brew local English dishwater, served by staff who want to be there, and a manager without a chip on his shoulder, it would be so nice for local people to enjoy. Attracts lots of students glued to phones who don't like ordering at...
Read moreThe pub: full of charm and character. Its a comfortable little pub and there are boardgames too.
The beer & food: tasty! Good selection of both. Really favorably priced.
The pub landlord: this is where the pub truly shines! Ben is a legend. Always friendly and accommodating. With the restrictions in place its been hard to get a table anywhere and at the coronation pub this was no exception. But Ben kindly set up a new table and chairs so we could get involved, and frequently checked up on us to make sure everything was on point. Geat landlord that really gives the pub its spirit.
Overall: the coronation is a great little local pub in the heart of Bristol. Its reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. Its not a chain and has heaps of character about it. Thoroughly...
