BLUF - the most unprofessional establishment I have ever encountered.
SITUATION: My elderly father entered this pub shortly after receiving his weekly cancer treatment at the BRI, he politely asked the barman if he could use the toilet facilities to which the reply was; 'No, because you have not purchased a drink', my father pleaded, he was desperate following his medical treatment, the barman said, 'If you go in there I will PUNCH you'. This threat was received with great alarm and concern by my father, scared and embarrassed he left the pub, still with the need to use the toilet. This behaviour was a clear intent/threat, to physically harm a law abiding elderly and somewhat medically sick member of society, for asking something of which any self respecting person with an ounce of humanity would happily grant. Upon hearing my fathers account, I personally rung the pub giving them the chance to explain, only to have the land lady/manageress abruptly deny this ever happening and then hanging up. I then rung up again, she hung up. I repeated this 5 times and again each time she hung up, which was a clear admission of guilt.
SUMMARY: To that end, I would ask you to please avoid using this pub, hopefully by reducing the foot fall, they will be forced to close and no other person subjected to the repulsive, degrading and evidentially hostile situation my father was.
I would invite the local licensing authorities, to conduct a full review of this establishment, as quite clearly they are in contravention of all known licensing laws.
Thank you...

I asked for a Pinot Grigio and she gestured at me like she couldn’t hear me, so I repeated it and she said something to the effect of “we say white or red here” so I said white (I didn’t mind what I got, I just wanted to be specific cos I thought that would be more helpful and save the bartender from needing to ask which white I wanted). Then I apologised for the confusion but it was met with hostility. I get that people have bad days, but I was having a bad day and was really pleasant, I also work in customer service and can’t imagine taking out a bad day on a customer like that - plus the fact that I was alone and ended up feeling embarrassed and even more isolated than I already felt in a brand new city. She kept coming outside near where I was sat after that and I felt intimidated. This was likely a one off, and I’ve never left a bad review for a place before but it really bothered me, so if you’re a lone traveller in a new place maybe eer on the edge of caution if you’re already having a rough day aha. The wine was good though and the outside area was...

The banter is a joy to share, The windups thick and thin, Delivered with such grace and style, and sure to make you grin.
The locals are a funny bunch, mindful of their pelvis,.... They dance so bad but not their fault, for someone's playing Elvis. Their collars raised and sideburns shown, some even sport a quiff. I educate them straight away, we all know there's one "Cliff" !!!
