Used to love this place and as a family with 3 young children, we were expecting an enjoyable evening to round off the summer holidays, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory.
Multiple items off the menu weren't available (including mussels and half the kids selection).
Had to prompt the staff to take our order. Normally, we bring our own activity packs for the children, but as this was an impromptu visit, we inquired about the availability of colouring sheets. To our dismay, the barman provided us with one half-used colouring book and a single black marker pen!! Followed by a red dry-wipe marker—we burst out laughing and inevitably had moaning children.
After waiting, I had to get up and ask the bar staff multiple times for different things- side plate, condiments, napkins, the BILL!! All whilst he was hiding at the back of the bar eating his own dinner. Kids received the wrong orders of ice cream too and we were never asked for more drinks or as adults if we wanted dessert etc? But we did see the waitress being attentive to her boyfriend’s needs, providing him with condiments and standing by him as he ate a pizza at the bar and kindly walking him out of the venue to be gone missing for a period of time.
Additionally, the state of the toilet facilities was unacceptable. The disabled toilet, I went to use as the baby changing area, was in awful condition, with faeces and flies present in there. The men’s toilets were also in poor condition; one toilet seat was broken. My son, being too little to reach the urinals, had no stool available to assist him, and there were no stools for my children to reach the sinks to wash their hands. When I attempted to raise these concerns, only the chef was around, who simply remarked, "I'll let someone know," without offering any immediate assistance or follow-up.
Toppings on pizza were bleak, four pieces of wild boar salami on an entire pizza!?
I understand that it was a Monday evening and perhaps a quieter time, but the level of service we received was unacceptable. It was, quite frankly, the biggest waste of money I have spent. Plenty more family friendly places to eat, go spend your...
Read moreUnfortunately super disappointed with a Christmas meal organised here, after extensive emails we were so excited to bring a large group to ZeroDegrees.
The buffet food was not sufficient for our party, even though we actually didn't have around 20 guests attend. We had to request for more to come which is just really embarrassing, and shows that it wasn't actually catered for 60 like we had paid for. Other parties were actually taking from our buffet too and due to all staff being on the bar they couldn't really stop this happening.
Additionally, the bruchetta & pate was half on bread half just on Ryvita. Not a good look. Prep wise, this was all prebooked, so how on earth Ryvitas had to be used as your bread obviously ran out I don't know.
After prepaying deposits, and agreeing on email that we would all individually pay on the day, the venue insisted 1 lump sum payment, which INCLUDED full price for 20 guests who didn't turn up. Apparently the 'deposit' was a part payment.
This is really disappointing, especially as we are students, who are now completely out of pocket. No discount was offered & we are so disappointed that we paid so much money. We cannot chase those who did not attend for full payment for the meal, as they paid a deposit, and didn't attend. I don't understand why the deposit doesn't stand.
We had organised and organised and unfortunately it was just disappointing experience on the night.
Staff were great, food was okay. Long wait at the bar but understandable due to other large parties being there.
Felt like we were shoved in a corner, no sit down tables, just on sofas. Not what was expected! I genuinely believe we were not prioritised due to being students.
I am sure this is a great place to dine in general as it seems great, but maybe not for parties. Hopefully it was just a bad day.
Attached are the complimentary puddings for 60 people. Before anyone has...
Read morePrivacy Invaded, no apology offered
I was at Zero Degrees in Bristol on the 17th of December for a 3 course Christmas meal.
Just after we arrived I went to the toilet, and while I was in the cubicle the doorman (called Mike, employed by Metropolis Security) twice jumped up on top of the adjacent cubicle and looked down on me while I was exposed using the toilet. This is a ridiculous invasion of privacy. He then used very threatening language and accused me of taking drugs - a baseless and crazy accusation! He told me I either had to leave immediately or he would call the police where they would search me at the police station. I was completely taken aback by this, and even offered to empty my pockets and said he was welcome to call the police as I had done nothing wrong. After a while of more threatening language from the doorman, he eventually realised he had made a mistake, but rather than apologising he just walked off.
My friend then told the acting manager what had happened, and in response we got no apology or discount. She simply shrugged and said she would ask the doorman what happened. This was a totally unsatisfactory response to what had happened.
The sequence of events totally ruined my meal and experience and that of my friends. I didn't feel I could use the bathroom again for fear of being harassed. I am in the process of taking legal advice and considering taking legal action because of the behaviour of the doorman.
At the very least I expected all the money back and an apology as it totally ruined our Christmas meal. I shouldn't have to pay to have my privacy invaded, be threatened and be made to feel like a criminal.
When I later emailed the restaurant myself to make a complaint, they did contact Metropolis Security and forwarded the conversation. However there was no apology whatsoever, and no mention of a refund.
Will...
