This is a big pub with lots of beer and drinks to choose from. Beer and drinks are very cheap, and I don't know how we did not get drunk, but some in my group were at least tipsy, and they had a nap on the way back.. :) - Food is also very good value for money. The only thing I didn't like is that my husband and son asked for two burgers and chips without asking me if I wanted anything to eat. :) The burger looked like it was made with real meat and the chips were fresh chips and not reheated like you get in some pubs - I ended up picking chips and a bite of my husband's burger - he offer me a whole one, but I kept thinking about the amount of calories that the burger had and my dress would not had fit it me for the party that night. The pub has big "french" doors, and in hot days, such as the one we went - they open then, so it was more like an open pub (obviously), you know what I mean. The pub is in front of this beautiful and big church of Bury, I think is the Bury parish church, just in case you drink to much and fancy proposing an marring your girlfriend/boyfriend, you don't have to go to far before you regret it. we didn't visit the church as we had not enough time, and drinking beer after visiting the market was more important than visiting the church - we will have time for that in the next visit. I wonder if in this Bury church, the marry and Bury too... I defiantly...

Not bad could do with more staff at busy lunch time. The food and services not great staff just thought your meal on the table.i had another visit to this pub we ordered our food and drinks i had a larger shandy and it tasted mot nice it let a very bad after taste in my mouth. We waited for 45 minute and still no food had arrived, i went to the bar to enquire about our food and was told by the manager that they were very busy and he thought we were next .When our food arrived well it was dreadful my brother in law and my brother had fish and chips the fish was all batter and hard we they had about 10 chips my sister had ham and eggs and chips the eggs white was that hard like rubber and the yoke was like a bullet. I had lasagne and chips and garlic bread. My lasagne was cold my garlic bread was cold. I went and asked for the manager who was the young man who served me .i said how horrible the meals were and why didn't he say when i ordered that the waiting time was going to be a long time. He just kept saying he was sorry no offer off refund it spoiled our day because i was treating my sister for her birthday. I don't go to bury very often but next time i will deff choose somewhere...

Firstly, it's a Wetherspoons so for some that will be review enough - a warning or an invitation depending on your tastes. I've been before and it has been poor for different reasons. The service was slow and beyond indifferent - they had drinks in their fridges not on the system (out of stock apparently) and confusion reined thereafter. The glass I was given had been cleaned in the same way leaving something out in the rain might clean it. As is often the case the place was untidy and littered with wet tables, pots, plates and glasses. We noted that there were more gambling machines than staff. And now the bottomless coffee on offer is self service - like a petrol station but without the friendly staff - and the assumption is that everything will be where it should be if you use it. I had to climb over and past a group of small children who had decided the clear space in front of the coffee machine would be their play area. Boiling water and toddlers a safe combination. It is still cheap. But not enough to...

Here now very disappointed. Food quality very poor. We ordered chicken burger inside the tmenu it was priced at £10.50 but on the outside of the menu it was £10.95. Asked when paying and was told it’s a misprint and £10.95 was the price but to be honest the chicken was really dry and not nice. One of our party had Yorkshire pudding with chicken casserole . All frozen and not at all appetising . We come here regularly but will try other places in bury in future. The last few times we have been there was a lovely lady think she was the manageress always came round and asked if everything was ok . We stopped eating more than 40 minutes ago and plates are still in the table . Very very poor . Phone of food that was left

'The Robert Peel'. No longer part of the JD Weatherspoons Group. Cheap and cheerful. Great range of beers, lagers and ciders. Opens early, serves exactly the same as when it belonged to the JD Weatherspoons Group. The Robert Peel is now a stand-alone Free House, after closing in March 2022 and reopening April 2022. Still full of either young kids, old soaks or those just wanting some cheap grub. Always been a great place to come! The pub is named after the former MP and mill owner Sir Robert Peel, whose statue stands meters away on Market Place. It first opened its doors in 1997 and the building was given a revamp in the early 2000s

1st we had to wait nearly 40mins for food even then only 1 meal came then rnd 5mins another came i went to bar to ask where the other 3 meals were to get told by a very stressed staff member that ''we had to wait as 1 of the staff had not turned up so there is only 2 serving, so she was sorry for our wait but we just had to wait", i was ready to ask for money back when grandson said that food was on table so altogether after an hour we weren't happy but as we were hungry we ate then left. this was 1 of the meals slightly burnt scampi.
