Something close to business up front, party in the back could apply here. Old school pub at the front, in fact Bury's oldest pub, cask ales, malt whiskeys, candles and a real pub atmosphere. Ale well kept and good range of cask, wine and fizzy stuff. Food served seven days and all fresh prepared, none of this wetherspoons microwave nonsense.

Visit on weekend evening and find the back end of the pub complete with DJ or live band and a huge bar to cater for wine, cocktails, shots and whatever else takes your fancy. Or hide up the front and relax.

Something here for everyone,...

Probably cos its run by Veterans and Heroes who served their country, this establishment blew me away with their friendly and welcoming atmosphere. i would ask every single person visiting to Talk to the staff and simply enjoy one of the best Pubs I've ever visited. I am from Preston but my time in Bury was made brilliant by these guys. cannot recommend them high enough. cannot remember their names sadly, but to be honest, every one of their staff was just a true pleasure to spend time with. to TOP it all, the FOOD is to DIE FOR!!! TRUST...

A lovely quaint pub, with lots of individual small rooms. I think the pub is larger than it first seems as there are lots of separate little areas to sit in. It was fairly quiet as it was a Thursday evening, (however that seemed normal for Bury,) so we had the room we were sat in to ourselves. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room we sat in was covered in pictures of War time heroes and remembrance, which was really lovely to look at. We only stayed for 2 drinks, but I'd certainly go in again if I was out in Bury again. Definitely...

Seems like a clique pub wherein the regulars expect to know you if you visit — I enquired to the member of staff who served me if their beer garden was open to which I was met with “it’s currently closed” — usually when someone enquires about this it is opened for them, but not this time no… to be fair, the fellow who served me I feel was trying to be polite but that just felt off, and the boozer smelt a little too… so it wasn’t the only thing off

Always been a Brilliant pub. Bury’s oldest pub and has been voted Bury’s pub of the year. Also got a 100% review by mystery shoppers. They have so much on from Military Monday where they serve free food to veterans of all of HM Forces. They also have great live acts every Friday and Sunday and a majority of Saturdays. The Ales and all other drinks are amazing.

Didn't eat here so didn't rate food. Very old historic pub. Lovely surroundings. A range of board games and books available to borrow while you visit. Well stocked bar. Lots of places to sit a couple of fire places, sofa, different seating available. Believe this place is more a pub in the day and a night spot late evenings and weekends.
