We are regular customers of this restaurant. Undoubtedly the best Thai restaurant in Cambridge, however, our recent visits were not pleasant. The lady staff/owner (with short hair and wears glasses) was quite rude.
The first encounter was when we came over and the place was packed. She was rushing to get our orders and served our food hastily (just placing the plates of food on the table without saying anything)-- this we totally understood as it was busy at that time, though the male staff were still very polite despite the chaos.
The second one was today. We arrived dinner time and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Starter was served on time, and she immediately dished it out after we finished it. She told us that our mains are being prepared already and will be served in a few minutes. 30 minutes have passed and the food wasn't served yet; we called her attention and followed up our orders politely. She then replied "I told you already that it is being prepared and we'll serve once ready." When I asked her how long, she told me that she doesn't know as the kitchen staff is preparing different dishes all at the same time, and walked away from us. I'm not an expert when it comes to running a food business, but I know that her attitude was totally uncalled for. She could've told us that she'll ask the kitchen staff and will get back to us with an update.
It's a shame that this restaurant serves amazing food, but fails big time when it comes to customer service (just the short-haired...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at Baan Thai Street Food , Cambridge and were pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of their Thai food. Being from a Southeast Asian country, I absolutely love Thai cuisine, but it’s rare to find truly authentic Thai flavours in the UK. Many places tend to tone down the spice and boldness to suit European tastes—but not here!
We ordered Papasalad (10/10), Pad Thai noodles (9/10), Gin & Tonic, and Thai Milk Tea (both 10/10). Everything was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. The Pad Thai was well-balanced, not overly sweet, and had just the right texture. The Thai Milk Tea was rich and creamy, just as it should be.
The only letdown was the fried rice (5/10). It lacked the depth of flavour we were expecting. However, when we mentioned it to the staff, they were incredibly understanding and even removed it from our final bill—great customer service! Since they took care of it so well, we’re happy to leave it out of the review.
In the end, I gave 5 stars ✨🌟—not just because of their amazing hospitality, but also because it’s so rare to find authentic Thai food in the UK. We went in without expecting much, assuming the food might be adjusted to Western tastes, but we were pleasantly surprised. If you’re looking for proper, flavourful Thai food, this is definitely the...
Read moreHave come here several times and I have not been disappointed (especially after knowing which dishes I love)! For one, the Moo Tord is a dish that I often crave for - the crispy savouriness of the pork belly with the sauce on the side is the stuff of dreams. Pair that with the Tom Yum Nam Kon, which is the classic spicy creamy soup, or the Tom Zaap Ka Dook Moo, which is a hot and sour soup, and I’m satisfied (until I crave it again). The Tom Zaap Ka Dook Moo wasn’t something I’d tried in Thai cuisine before but it was delicious - the sourness cuts through any other greasiness from other dishes you might have. I would also recommend the Kao Khai Jeaw Moo Sab if you’re wanting a simple dish for one person, it’s really just a deep fried omelette with minced pork and other toppings (on top of rice) but it goes really well with the rice and a bit of the sauce that’s provided which gives a spicy sweet tanginess to the dish. Might be a good idea to book a table in advance if it’s a weekend because they can get quite busy some days and might turn you away if...
