Brilliant museum if you are a keen geologist or interested in dinosaurs and the people who uncovered them. Loved that the facts are displayed for all ages to understand and there are plenty of interactive media or art to do whilst visiting for children. Interesting timeline on Darwin located here as well. Only issue was the lack of disabled or buggy friendly access to enter and throughout there were stairs where there could have been a ramp. Can't really complain though as it is free to enter and you could easily spend hours with the right person absorbing information. I will be going back without the kids to fully take everything in. Not got a 5 star rating because of the accessibility but everything else was brilliant. I also loved that you weren't followed around by curators telling you not to touch stuff every 5 minutes.

Great Museum for Kids and Families! The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences is a fantastic place to visit with children and family. The museum is free to enter, which makes it an accessible option for everyone. One of the highlights is definitely the collection related to Charles Darwin—it's a fascinating glimpse into history. The museum is housed in a historical building, adding to its charm. However, I’m not certain about the wheelchair accessibility, so it might be worth checking in advance if needed. There are also toilet facilities available, which is always a plus for families with young children. Overall, a wonderful educational experience in the heart of Cambridge!

This museum is really for geology enthusiasts and I suspect geology and paleontology students. There is clearly some modernisation taking place, but the majority of showcases are of classic old fashioned style, which are too high for young children, although footstools are provided. Worksheets are available for children to complete or colour in. There are simply hundreds of specimens of fossils, shells and rocks to see and some big skeletons. The staff were friendly and helpful. I personally enjoyed reading about the scientists and explorers of the past who were just so curious about the world they lived in and which we now benefit from by visiting these museums.

An ocean of information packed in this small Sedgwick Museum. This museum has an impressive selection of dinosaurs, fossils, bones, rocks and gemstones as well as a lot related to history such as Charles Darwin letters. If ur dinosaur love n living or visiting Cambridge then this place must to visit even if you only have one day in Cambridge. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They always there if u need any kinda help. Building is not too big either so you can get round it without feeling like you've missed anything. It’s free entry so highly recommend to visit by alone, with friends or with the family coz plenty of interesting things for kids too.

Great place, lots of fossils including dinosaur bones. Very comprehensive details and samples on the different epochs of life on Earth. Spoiler warning: global warming (and subsequent cooling) happened many times on Earth over the time since life evolved, it says so on the posters ;) One thing that observant folks will notice is that ammonites were present across a wide range of epochs. This museum contains what seems like every ammonite and related species fossils ever uncovered. Recommended for an hour to look around. The kids may get bored. Free entry and closed on Sundays.

A lovely museum that has many wonderful species if you are into rocks and fossils. It’s not a big museum like Fitzwilliam, but it has more than enough to see including some exciting animal fossils as well as a section dedicated to Charles Darwin’s collection of rocks in his younger years. My personal favourite is the minerals and gemstones, many different type of specimens on display and is wonderful to see them in its raw form. I visited on a Monday and is not too busy. Staff is friendly and very helpful with information. Highly recommended 💕
