Hanami — Restaurant in Cambridge

The staff/owner are very nice and welcoming, the atmosphere and decor are great. We were surprised to see them with no guests on Friday night while other restaurants nearby were packed. Hoping we found a hidden gem and encouraged by positive reviews, we decided to give them a try. Unfortunately after the food arrived we found out why they had no guests. We had a udon soup with shiitake, tofu, egg and carrots and a prawn curry. Sadly, neither was very good. Udon tasting like reheated from a package, rice overcooked, little flavour. My first time trying this delightful little Japanese café. Great choice of breakfast, I opted for the veggie breakfast which was delicious with a nice mix of spinach, halloumi, cherry tomatoes, hash browns , mushrooms, beans egg and toast, plus strawberry jam. £11.95 which was fantastic value. While eating my breakfast I perused the menu ,the poke bowls look really good ,im going to have to come back and try one.
