Conclusion: -authentic "Dong Bei" food (rare in UK) -served in large portions. -cozy environment -friendly staff -fair price
It was my first visit to UK, so I'd usually prevent going to Chinese restaurant since I came from Hong Kong. One of my friend suggested this restaurant for dinner and it was great overall.
We arrived at the restaurant at about 7pm, it was fairly busy for a small restaurant like Kong Woo. We came in as a group of 10 and the staff welcomed us politely. The environment is not high-class indeed but its really cozy there, not bad for a family-running restaurant.
We ordered dishes such as Sauerkraut Fish, Grilled Lamp Chop and Spicy Chicken, they are well cooked and served in large portions. The staff told us the key ingredients were shipped all the way from the hometown of the boss in China which is impressive
As I observed, all customers enjoyed their meal, most of the customers were Chinese but there were still a few locals. The chef would not rush so that he can ensure good quality of food.
I highly suggest anyone to try out Kong...
Read moreVery good Korean food, we had 10 people for a meal out and 9 of us had the BBQ pot. This consists of chicken wings and chicken piece 2 types of pork, beef, prawns, squid and fish tofu which comes out raw and you cook on a pan on a hot plate. The meat was amazing, tender and very tasty as were the prawns and the squid. Only downsides are it takes a long time to cook with 4 or 5 of you per pan and you don't get enough vegetables. It's the second time we've been here and we have your more traditional chow mein oriental type meals first time. But everything we had was very good, lots if Asian people eat here which is always a good sign. It has a 4 stat hygiene rating but doesn't look the cleanest, also you will not find a menu online. I give the food 5 stars and restaurant itself 3. The staff were friendly but not great at speaking English, however the food is great and everyone...
Read moreI have to say this is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been in the UK. I am Chinese so I can say the food is absolutely traditional Chinese cuisine that has not been adapted to local taste, and it even somehow reminds me of the memories back in my hometown, dining with friends in a small family-run restaurant. The food is very delicious, and the price is quite decent with such a huge portion. Although it took us a while to wait for food, I think it was because they only had a few people running the restaurant and they were just too busy generally, but the food was definitely worth waiting. The staff is really nice btw. Surely will come again! I already decided what to eat next time I come...
