Popped in for a Saturday morning breakfast purely by chance and was not disappointed at all. A wonderful place, plenty of seating and a welcoming atmosphere. Staff were polite, friendly and service was very quick. There was only about 8-12 covers in which possibly helped but I've no reason to suspect anything other than good service. I opted for a favourite of Eggs Benedict and coffee. The muffins were perfectly roasted, wonderfully poached (no uncooked white and a golden, runny yolk). The sauce was tangy and creamy and there was plenty of it, too. Delicious. My wife enjoyed the full breakfast and there no complaints from across the table! Coffee was equally tasty and served with hot milk for me and cold milk for my wife's rather well sized pot of tea. Clean and well kept WC although be aware they are up some steep and narrow (and short, mind your head!) stairs. I didn't notice, but didn't look specifically, any accessible bathrooms, but I'm sure there probably is some in there. We enjoyed our breakfast so much, we made a promise to return for dinner and I hope to enjoy the same good service and standard of food. Quite looking forward to it. Update: And we made it! We went back for my wife's birthday dinner and what a dinner it was! Firstly, the staff. Every single person, from greeting to departure were brilliant! An example, my son's dessert spoon fell to the floor with, we thought, no staff around. He picked it up, wiped it and would ask for another when we saw someone. About 1 minute later our waitress casually walks up, takes the dirty spoon and replaces with a fresh one. No asking, no fuss, no problem. Brilliant! Now, the food! I'm not a fish/seafood guy so I have to say, the menu is reduced a little BUT still plenty on offer. We ordered from the Fixe Prix menu and that served up a treat for us all. I had the Poulet, everyone else, the Minute steak. All were delicious, superbly cooked, served perfectly and outstandingly delicious to last drop. Starters and desserts, too many variables to mention but ALL delicious to a plate! We had an amazing evening and we will be going back! Simply outstanding.

It is with the deepest of regrets that I feel compelled to commit these words to paper. Rarely have I found cause to offer such a blistering critique, for it is not my nature to speak ill of the efforts of others. Yet the profoundly unsatisfactory nature of my recent experience leaves me with little choice. While the culinary and libational offerings were passable, even adequate, the treatment of my personal effects was nothing short of egregious. The careless spilling of tomato juice upon my new traveling bag and charging cable was, I am certain, an unintended transgression. However, the subsequent handling of this mishap was woefully deficient. The application of dish soap in a crude attempt to scrub away the stain did little to remedy the situation, leaving behind persistent and unsightly blemishes. That the server failed to ensure the complete removal of the offending substance from the surrounding furnishings only compounded my distress, for I was left to contend with the risk of further soiling. I cannot help but wonder if the server's response would have been more considerate had the items in question been of a more premium provenance. Alas, though my recent acquisitions may not have borne illustrious brand names, they held deep personal significance. The gesture of waiving a modest dessert charge fell pitifully short of adequately compensating for the ruination of goods valued at over £100. As I labored to address the lingering odor and unsightly blemishes, the server passed me by on numerous occasions without offering further assistance. The protracted delay I endured upon checkout, with none deigning to attend to my needs, only served to compound my sense of frustration and disappointment. It is with a heavy heart that I now continue my travels bearing the indelible marks of this unpleasant experience. I can only implore that others take heed and exercise caution when bringing personal effects into this establishment, lest they suffer a similar fate. It is my fervent hope that the management will undertake a thorough review of their service protocols to ensure that no future patron is subjected to such an unfortunate encounter. **I sent email to them (2024.8.2) but no one reply.

If i could give -5 stars review, i would gladly do so!! A terrible TERRIBLE place!! Staff is rude, extremely rude!! Been there yesterday with the family thinking we would have a great time together, especially because we traveled all the way from london to meet up and enjoy a nice late lunch. We waited more than 15 minutes just for someone to come take our drinks order!! I am a waitress myself and i know very well what i am talking about!! We ordered 3 espresso martinis, they were disgusting and inconsistent!! All three glasses had different amounts of drink in it!! We went on drinking it because, as I said, i am a waitress myself and i can understand how stressful, hard and exhausting this job can be. However, when desserts came out, we were in absolute rage! 2 out of the three rum babas that we ordered were straight up D R Y!! We complained about it to the bar, there was a guy with tattoos and beard and they offer nothing to help in anyway!! During the meal nobody checked on us, nobody asked us if we would like to order anything else!! As described above, we wanted to have lunch, but we ended up only eating dessert because of the absolute awful service!! And even that, we only ordered dessert just because WE felt ashamed to only drink without eating. So WE felt ashamed, not the staff, ok?! When the bill came, we waited another roughly 30 mins for someone to come take the payment. Again, ABSOLUTELY NOBODY CAME!! We ended up going ourselves to the till asking to pay. We complained about the whole experience to Radomir (as per the receipt) and his answer was “and? What do you want now?”. It’s just… I don’t even have an appropriate word for it! There was a blonde woman, probably one of the managers, she was completely unbothered, even though she heard the situation. Please everyone, just go somewhere else to have a meal, to a local business or even tesco!! It’s way better!! Completely disappointed, frustrated and betrayed!! Never ever again!! Also, the restaurant only had 3-4 tables and a lot of staff around!

Bad experience— the food is not fresh. Baked Camembert is basic. I’ve had far better ones in terms of cheese and added flavors (such as pear and walnut etc). The honey tomato is lovely, tangy and not too sweet, but still basic. Also it will be better to present the cheese in a ceramic baking dish, otherwise it cools down very quickly. And then downhill from basic to bad. The wait for the main course is sooooooo loooooong. Maybe I should go help in the kitchen. The staff don’t know what to do (standing near the till together observing us but avoiding eye contact) and the managers don’t care. (“Have you spoken to them?””I told them 2 more minutes.” No I asked first and it didn’t come until after five more minutes. No you don’t refer to your customers as “them” in front of them.”🙄— and this is the managers’ face not us.) The chicken gratin is not creamy or baked at all, more like a grilled chicken leg thrown into some random sauce. My friend says the chicken tastes off “like some animal other than chicken”, and it looks very dry. My sea bream is slightly better. At least the plating is more presentable and the skin is properly charred, but it’s not fresh either. Dry and streaky and lumpy, the cream sauce can’t save it. I’m almost certain the fish was frozen, badly frozen. The onion was raw. The baby potatoes weren’t cooked through. (*Imagine Gordon Ramsay shouting at you.) Whilst waiting, I was joking if they were still catching the chicken or fish. Now I guess the kitchen was desperately drying to thaw the ingredients in one hour. Ground floor was two third empty though looked cozy. First floor and restroom is ice cold. That also tells the run-down state of things… Pity I used to trust the chain restaurant for some simple French inspired food. I won’t come again here or in London.

I went out out with friends who didnt have any dietary requirements and I ordered a drink, vegan main and dessert and had a starter. The food was really good but unfortunately the service let things down. The starters came out in a reasonable time and it was a bit of a longer wait for the main but nothing to complain about. When I asked for ketchup to use with my fries, the waiter forgot and I got quite a way through my meal before they remembered. At times it was hard to get a waiter's attention whether it be to ask for the bill or for ketchup in the first place. I would have given up on the ketchup if my friend didn't ask me if I wanted it (she would have tried to get the waiter's attention as well). We waited the longest for dessert to come out, considering we finished our main around 3pm,we didn't finish eating our dessert until almost 4pm as it was a long wait! My friends have eaten there before and one said the service isn't normally like this so I would consider going back again as that was my only complaint.

I had breakfast at Cote with a friend and rate it highly. Plenty of good seating on Sunday at 0945 and we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Sometimes in Cambridge staff are a little sleepy on a Sunday morning after a big Saturday night - not in Cote. The staff were really well presented and extremely helpful and courteous. There are a range of breakfast options all appealing. I opted for the English breakfast which was really very good. All the ingredients high quality and perfectly cooked. The toast was crispy yet fluffy and was served with tasty butter. I had orange juice - proper fresh stuff, not stuff made from concentrate. And the coffee - I always had black and it was good enough to have two cups. Breakfast is my favourite meal and in this respect Cote did not disappoint. I would not change any part of it and my guest and I are going back for Sunday breakfast in two weeks time.
