Navadhanya has excellent reviews !!! so looking forward to eating here after reading the reviews ? we arrived early shown to are table very clean , warm , good size table for 2 & good space between tables ! we ordered our drinks 1 pint & large wine ? it didn't look a large wine perhaps they should have used smaller glass than wine would have looked large ! we ask for poppadoms and was told that we get to share popadoms & pickle tray ! we had to ask for more popadoms & i would not have call it pickle tray! what was served with the poppadoms, we was given menu and was very disappoint as it was very poor due to a limited selection , we both struggled with the menu more so my wife! i had starter to share MALAI TIKKA chicken breast type dish, it tasted better than it looked (looked bland) score out of 5 is 3 main menu again limited wife struggled to choose opted for chicken chettinadu chicken was not breast meat more wing or thigh ! score out of is 3 I had Railway lamb curry it looked just like beef curry !! both the sauces looked identical i had to try both sauces for myself but they did taste different, railway lamb curry lamb was nice tender but tasteless , score out of is 3 we had 2 side dishes Chatpata subzi we both like this & Broccoli asparagus thoran i liked score for both dishes out of 5 is 3 only 2 choices of rice (very disappointed) we opted for sadachawal plain rice , we ordered 1 garlic & coriander naan but it was small for naan so had to order second both did not have a lot of taste but ok , we opted out to having dessert or coffee !! service 4 out 5 On todays visit value for money score out of 5 is 2 it's far to expensive all round over all menu needs more choice , portions larger , right from the poppadom , pickle tray onwards ! Read moreOrdered a few times since lockdown. Ideal if you want a slight twist on traditional Indian food.
The food is lovely, especially the papadi chaat. All other dishes I've tried are lovely but very rich. The vegetable biryani for example comes with a raita but I'm pretty sure it's made with double cream (as well as yoghurt). Although it's been great for an occasional treat, it would be better if there were a way to request for less cream to be added to some of the curries. My partner and I would then be able to order more frequently without the worry of it impacting our health.
Recent order (all vegetarian): Dal turka - lentil soup. Not too puréed. Lots of garlic. Lovely, tasty, will likely order again. Saag aloo - new potatoes in spinach. The spinach is puréed, not usually how this dish is served, gives it a different twist and taste. Paneer makhni - cheese in a sweetish, tangy, creamy tomato sauce. The paneer ratio is quite good but the dish as a whole is very rich, cheese in a thick, creamy sauce. I found it hard to eat large portions but may be ideal if it's being shared alongside a few other dishes. Papadi chaat (not pictured) - surprisingly pink but extremely tasty. A mix of lentils, chickpeas, sev (dried noodles), pomegranate, yoghurt, herbs/spices.
Overall, I'd 100% recommended but I'd advise to order mindfully based on the heaviness and richness of the dishes. For now, ideal for the occasional fine dining experience at home. Looking forward to visiting the restaurant once the...
Read moreWent for a date night yesterday and had some really excellent food. Every dish we had wowed us - even the Peshawari naan! Very refined and elegant dishes and generous portion sizes - larger than usual fine dining experiences.
We had the hariyali machali (monkfish) and the malai chicken to start. The monkfish was very delicate and flavoursome, and the chicken was unbelievably tender and juicy. Then we had the nalli ka gosht (lamb ossobusco) and the Channai fish curry (cod) for mains - both just blew our taste buds.
The dessert of Inspiration Kulfi Falooda was nice but nothing special. Nice to try something so unique and not overly sweet but didn't stand out like the other dishes.
Had a bottle of their Brouilly red wine which was nice - notes of red currants and raspberries, medium bodied, slightly dry.
I've knocked a star off for the very lackluster service. Everyone was very perfunctory and polite but did not extend any joy or smiles (you can see a smile in the eyes even with masks on). It's like everyone was a zombie. And I think they know it - when I paid the bill, the waiter handed me the card machine to enter my PIN without the opportunity to give a tip.
I'd definitely go back again for the excellent food but I hope the service improves next time to include some happiness...
