Our destination for a road trip from Leeds; Chapel Coffee has been on my pal's hit list of places to go for a while. We rocked up not too long after opening and ordered coffee in first, an Americano and a latte. The latte I had was well rounded and smooth, decorated with pretty foam art and just the right temperature for drinking which was a strong start. We decided on food, I had Eggs Benedict and he had Halloumi Crumpets with Harissa. Time flew by with the chatting we did, so I can't speak to the service speed too much, but when both arrived, they were both presented well (see pictures). The Eggs Benedict comes as two poached eggs, atop toasted sourdough with maple bacon and hollandaise sauce and a sprinkling of paprika and greenery. Starting off well, the hollandaise was creamy & sweet with a zest that combined with the paprika to give a really nice taste. The bacon was cooked how I like it, it comes not nuclear cooked into crispy oblivion, but grilled well to retain the flavour. The eggs themselves, on this occasion, were a mixed bag. One was poached really well, giving a moderately runny yolk which mixed well with the hollandaise. The other, unfortunately, was cooked through to hard boiled, which I honestly think came down to the sheer size of the yolk in the egg, there was very little white on this egg, which I imagine caused the yolk to cook prematurely quickly. Flavour wise though, still really good. Sourdough has become almost a staple at this point, and though I prefer a muffin now, the sourdough didn't disappoint. This rocked in at £11 for me and £9.50 for my pal's. We both agreed that comparatively, we got good value for money and on-par with the cost of most other brunch venues we've been to. The inside of Chapel retains a good amount of the church-vibe whilst being modernised suitably to the decor you come to expect from coffee shops. Overall, I really enjoyed the visit, I just wish the eggs had been on the runnier-yolk side of the spectrum. I fully feel if they were, it would have been one of the better Eggs Benedict I've had in recent memory. Maybe next time. We travelled a couple hours down for the visit and we both left happy, if it was round the corner from us, I dare say we'd...

Read moreDear chapel, this is a response to your response. Your disrespectful response, just supports the review I have given you. I am surprised that in this difficult time for independent businesses you take your time to call out a honest review and say that I threw a tantrum. I stand behind what I said and do not and will not recommend your place!!! Your rude and very unable member of staff made my little toddler cry. As a mother I will always call such pathetic behaviour out, call it what you want!
I do not recommend this place. There is no dedicated parking. When we arrived with my toddler, we were told they could not accommodate us, the staff member just smiled and shrugged us off. So we turned around and as we walked out a table became free. Staff didn't bother telling us. It's unfortunate because we drove to cannock to visit this place, and my toddler was visibly upset. Their website doesn't state that you MUST pre book a table. We wouldn't have visited. Otherwise, the place looked dark and dingy, not as pictured. We wouldn't be...
