Have been coming here for years as live local, but never in my life have I witnessed such poor customer service and bad attitude from staff, in particular the latest duty manager (Molly). Brought my family here recently for a rare get-together to enjoy a meal and few drinks, but was sadly greeted by miserable staff with lack of customer service skills. As we ordered on the App for ease, it became clear that the manager was not happy "waiting on us" banging our glasses down each time and no pleasantries whatsoever. Even when we tried to lighten the mood with a bit of banter, it went down like a lead balloon. She was clearly having a bad day and sadly we bared the brunt of it.
There are ways to speak to people without the need for attitude and trying to embarrass them in front of others, and you should not be in this profession if you cannot remain polite and professional whilst serving your customers. I wouldn't have minded, but we were just out for a nice relaxing family tea, minding our own business and keeping ourselves to ourselves, unlike some of the noisier younger customers that were sat upstairs! I am in my fifties and must say in all the years I have eaten out, this experience was by far one of the worst, I am still shocked at how we were spoken to. I have been to many Wetherspoon's but I have never witnessed such bad manners and disgusting attitude from a so called manager.
I was mortified and so embarrassed to have suggested we eat here as a family. It was also some of our families first visit, and they were made to feel very uncomfortable at the dreadful attitude of the duty manager. I will certainly be more choosier next time our family manages to get together, which sadly may be some months away. It really was a sorry case of "you get what you pay for". If you want a relaxing gathering then I would advise choosing elsewhere in Cannock, unless you do not mind your meal being served up with a huge helping of "bad attitude"...
Read moreI never come away from Wetherspoons feeling like I have been ripped off, Cannock is my nearest one which I visit most but, I go to others for a lunch or dinner every now and then in any town I happen to be in, so this is quite a few now over the years. Every time I have received good service, decent food and good value.
What is more, I love this company for making use of old buildings, celebrating their history and the areas history with various photographs from old.
I also spoke to a micro brewer a while back who described Wetherspoons as a very fair buyer of their Ale products saying that they don't beat people down on price as such but, say what they need to pay for their product to be able to make a profit themselves and give value to the customers at the same time. The prices he needed to sell to Wetherspoons at were sufficient he could make a decent living from and his business was very happy with the deal especially because of the quantity that is involved for them. He said they understand that everybody needs to be able to make money to continue in business which I think is applaudable supporting smaller businesses rather than driving them to the ground. Especially so because I have heard tales from producers of all sorts especially poultry that sell to super market brands where the buying process is according to them, quite ruthless.
Well done JD Wetherspoons, don't change...
Read moreWould have given 0 stars if I could. I went with my family for a celebratory meal at the Linford Arms last night. We went to order food at about 21:15 and I was told that I couldn't stay because it was after 9pm and I didn't have any ID on me, even though I wasn't drinking. I did not have ID because I had passed my driving test that morning so had no provisional license. We were told by who I assume was the manager to basically just go away somewhere else, which I found to be very rude and by this point I was extremely upset. It's ridiculous to need a passport just to eat pizza with a soft drink after 9pm. I appreciate the rules in place even though I don't agree with them, however what upset and angered me the most was how the staff dealt with it as they were frankly very unhelpful and couldn't seem to care less. The only thing I was served was bad customer service. Ruined what should have been a nice evening. Needless to say I won't be...
