After 20 years of enjoying Ethiopian cuisine, I have to say that this is the smallest portion of food I've ever received at the highest price I've ever paid. I just spent £22 in London, and in the past, even with four people, we couldn’t finish one serving. Normally, when I order, the food serves me for two days, so it’s always been like £10 per day in my head. This time, I finished the food and I'm still hungry. While it was tasty, the price disparity is absolutely shocking. I can’t believe I left an Ethiopian restaurant without the usual 4-5 containers of food. This experience is truly disappointing.

My friend and I were curious to try Ethiopian food so we thought we would try this place out. Super friendly family owned restaurant and the food was amazing. Great choice of vegetarian and meat dishes. I would highly recommend Chingah Habesha restaurant!

Unique food and genuine atmosphere, with lovely smily owner, well worth a visit for something very different whilst out in Canterbury. The Zigni Be’gie lamb stew eaten by hand with the sour flatbread is simply gorgeous!

It sits there unobtrusive on the King's Mile: A passer-by glance at the shop sign in all-caps serif roman font will miss the fact that this is an Eritrean-Ethiopian restaurant. It's a welcome change to the host of burger chains and artisanal pizza places up the way. The combinations of familiar stuff (beef, lamb, chicken, lentils, green chillies, tomato etc.) produce rich and distinctive dishes not quite like any other tradition. Your dishes come with a load of enjeera [spelling?] the spongy bread that's distinctive of that food, so no extra spending on rice just to get your carbs. It's designed for communal eating: so really social as well. I would say 'More places like this in Canterbury, please!' but I wouldn't want them to lose trade because of that! They also...

Things that I liked, the Tea & the meal was tasty.

Things I didn't like The Staff, was too busy, being loud & chatting amongst themselves than taking care of their Customers, converting the little venue more into a street food kiosk than a cosy indoor ''Bar/Restaurant'' that I would like to go back, left alone bringing a significant other for dinner.

The Tea was good, but 6 Euro for tea? Really?? I find it abusive. But my fault I didn't look the price properly before ordering but still I find it too expensive.

Overall food quantity? I paid the same price in Frankfurt last month for twice of the portion and with a much better service, atmosphere and decoration..I hope the owner see this and decide what they'll do with...

Restaurant was quiet when we went In (one other table) but 3 of us were squashed around a table for 2 when the other 2 people had been given a much bigger table. Atmosphere wasn't great most of the lights turned off couldn't really see menu very well. Having never tried this cuisine before it would have been nice to have a little bit of an explanation of the dishes to help us choose. The food itself was tasty enough,we got a sharing dish which was just enough food. We were discouraged of paying by card as it was easier for the owner to have cash but then they had the other table in there by card which was a bit weird. Overall something needs to be done to make the overall experience...
