Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Canterbury

Updated Wow has this place gone so down hill... So I'm a regular here and now i wont be coming back now. All the staff have changed from what i can tell no one from the original people from my first 5star review remain.

Where do i begin... 😭 so apparently speaking/understanding English has become a difficult task for the person who now works the till/phone, i hate to think the number of incorrect orders he has put through. He's friendly enough but i have had to resort to pointing out what i want on the menu as philly cheesestake with added mushrooms was incomprehensible to him. Other customers in store had same problems. Luckily there was another staff member to translate for him.

He had to use his phone to add up my order in front of me, i assume the till is too complicated for him to use. Filled with confidence that my orders are going to be correct 😭 I'm totally sure that's good food hygiene practice... He definitely does not sit on the loo with his phone at break, then handle it whilst prepping food... I'm sure... right.. does he 🤮??

A classic Papa John's sales tactic seems to be now miss off the added item you have paid for. This is like the third time this has happend now.

Im guessing they cant read the words on the computer screen that are in English above the prep area.

ordered my usual with added mushrooms....

...Had to wait extra long for some reason, confused. I noticed the Guys in the back keep looking at me strangely. finally got my pizza, went to my car opened it up and found to my surprise these s** had forgotten my mushrooms yet again AND... in an attempt to hide the fact... instead of making it again...

(i figured it out why they were all hanging around the conveyor oven and the extra long wait...)

...RUN a handful of mushrooms, i assume in an empty tray through the grill and sprinkled them ontop of the pizza to make it look like it was included. I order the same pizza every week, i know what the pizza looks like, mushrooms go under the cheese... nice try though ... 🤬 so warmish pizza with hot dry mushrooms on top.

Threw it in the bin and won't be using PapaJohns again. How to loose customers, have your franchise run by people who dont care.

Definitely the best pizza place in Canterbury in my opinion, I find the pizzas are not greasy like most and very enjoyable.

I had a chance to chat to a couple of the guys, one of them a fellow iron maiden fan 🤘, really friendly team of guys, oversaw him in the store helping a customer order the pizza they wanted, due to the customer not having English as a first language, they were having difficulties, very patient guy. I spoke to him about the way the pizzas are made to pass the time, told me they use a specific cheese that cuts down on the amount of fat and grease👍. I asked about the medieval looking mace used to roll my pizza base! it helps prevent air bubbles and keeps the pizza even when cooked. Witnessed all fresh ingredients being put on my order, and then the lids being put back on to the containers keep them fresh afterwards. No spray cheese/garlic like others i have seen 🤣 and missed toppings all over the show.

Philly cheesestake with added mushrooms is my favourite! Its one of thier current specials. Im not a massive fancy of spicy and hot pizzas so just a good savory pizza does it for me.

Papa Johns special garlic sauce is to die for... Absolutely hands down, banging. Forget your mayo, this is what you want to dip in its the worst kept...

I used to be a regular and this was my go-to pizza place in Canterbury. Good pizzas, arrived in good time with great range of vegan options and deals available. Would still recommend it but would be wary of anything you order that isn't in stock. I ordered a vegan ice cream; they called me and didn't have it stock and offered alternatives. None were vegan so declined. I was offered fizzy drinks instead. I declined as the deal already had some in it. My order arrived with fizzy I didn't ask for and they charged me full cost of the original order. I called them and asked for someone to pick it up. No one came. Papa John's customer service were "very concerned" and refunded me the £3.50. Never using this...

Tastiest pizza i ever had! Great dilverly drivers always nice and on time, but i do have to say somthing that someone need to get a life about one of the review on (Just Eat at pappa john ) Saying: that there pizza was an hour eary 🤣 I mean really? Omg get a grip! I would of be pleased that i got my pizza early than normal time, i am a regular customer please send my pizza an hour early, not these old bag! No...
