Tokyo Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Canterbury

I cannot recommend this place enough! Really fantastic people, brilliant vibe and fun cocktails.

I booked Tokyo Tea Rooms for a hen do. We were looking for some cocktail making and a table for the night. On the events booking team, I want to give a shout out to Alice for being amazing and really friendly. She was always happy to help work out logistics and help plan - even when I had to make a few changes because our hen weekend changed dates. TTR were really accommodating - even on the night when we were running late.

When we got to Tokyo tea rooms, the presentation & space was ready and inviting. We arrived before venue opening - it was amazing to see the place and have the space to do our activity. Our mixologists, Megan and Patrick, were incredible. They were funny, entertaining, and wonderful hosts. They showed us how to make TTRs signature bespoke cocktails, and they were very patient while everybody in the party made theirs. They were very attentive to ensure that our measurements were right and point out what we were missing. Megan and Patrick also helped figuring out alternatives for an allergy sufferer.

At no point did we ever feel rushed, we had time to take photos and enjoy the cocktails. We had also booked a VIP table for the night. Again, Megan and Patrick were really attentive and helped us get to our table. They also checked in on us periodically throughout the night; it really added a personal touch. Thank you both for making the night so entertaining and memorable - everyone can’t stop talking about it and the photos...

I've been to the emo night three or four times now, all were really really great up until the one last night. Usually there is a very safe vibe, despite lots of moshing to the heavier songs, and a good range of music for everyone that includes classic crowd pleasers aswell as those heavier songs.

Last night did not have this vibe at all, there was the same group of mostly men using the whole dancefloor to mosh to literally every single song and as the night progressed just got more and more aggressive to the point that there were multiple people on the ground every song. How are you supposed to enjoy yourself when you're spending most of the night picking people up off the ground or watching the pit so they don't knock over your friends? This was even encouraged by the DJs and security just stood and watched.

As for the music, everyone has their own tastes and obviously the group of men who moshed to every single song didn't mind, but there was a lack of the emo classics that you'd expect at a night like this. There was a few and when they were actually played you could feel and see the vibe of almost everyone improve, think people singing along and actually dancing. There just wasn't the good variety like there had been the previous times.

Overall, pretty disappointing and probably won't...

OMG!!!! What a fantastic place to go!! From start (the very lovely Alice who I booked through, was so efficient and clear) to finish it was a great experience. I organised my friend’s hen night and went for a meal first which was an absolute disaster (a real hen nightmare), so the mood of the hens was not great. When we got to Tokyo Tea Rooms, we were met by Kieran (an absolute star!) who, from his very first words, completely changed the mood. He basically saved the evening, and I will be eternally grateful to him. He made a huge fuss of the bride, and lead us to the karaoke room. The room was small but intimate, and perfect for us. We had also been given a private area right outside the room (which I wasn’t expecting), which was great! ALL the staff there couldn’t do enough for us. They were so friendly and efficient. If you want a top night this is definitely the place to go. I don’t even live In Canterbury, I live in Surrey, and I would definitely make the trip there again, and encourage my friends to come with me. Even without the karaoke etc, the music they played was excellent. Such a great vibe! Obviously another shout out to Kieran is needed…….absolutely love him!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for saving our hen night from the hen...
