Went for breakfast after specsavers. As we haven't been here for a couple of years. Only a couple of tables occupied. Ordered a pot of decaf tea for me and an expresso with sparkling water for Sis. Sis ordered a cheese omelette with a side of buttered toast. Looked good made with strong cheddar, just a bit strong for her. I ordered the smoked haddock on bubble & squeak, topped with poached egg finished with hollandaise sauce and a side of fried bread. Skin on smoked haddock was well cooked & tasty as the poached egg was. Let down was the bubble and squeak with chunks of carrot in and lacked seasoning, and the fried bread was the worst. A thick crust soft, not crispy photo shows the oil soaking part way up. The fried bread was to add a bit of crunch. I managed one half, which wasn't oily. Shame would have been a four. The tea pot didn't keep the water hot, so the second cup was lukewarm. Liked the tea strands as opposed to leaves/bags.

good place to get lunch!!Yumm . There were quite a few things that they had run out of but maybe it had been a busy morning? I had a yummmy soup of the day which was sweet potato and butternut squash, with bread. The bread was a bit old but to be frank i like that! the staff were LOVELY,!! so kind and complimenting our outfits. very nice people they deserve a raise no matter how much they are currently earning, give them more Lovely decor, Pretty ! we sat outside.

Lovely staff but the food was really meh. Seasoning doesn't seem to have arrived on this side of the country. There is little seasoning and then there is NO seasoning at all. This was the latter. Literally no salt or pepper or even sugar in the dessert. Which is a shame cause the food was cooked nicely. The soup, roast and the fish and chips were lovely after we added in the salt and pepper. Best give the dessert a miss unless the chef can find where the sugar is.

Very friendly and delightful atmosphere when visited on a Saturday by some nice young staff. so decided to go back on the Sunday. However what a difference!. Was greated after entering the tea room with a totaly rude and unfriendly woman demanding I stand outside after politely asking if a table for 4 was available. Virtually pushed out the front door and door actually slammed against my foot in the process. No sign on door Informing this was procedure and considering it was pouring with rain and I had a elderly, disabled lady with us, this was disgusting. She told me that she would have to check her book although I could see tables free. We left and will not return. Obviously don't need...

Been going here for 30+ years and been very pleased with the food til now. I ordered the Mega Breakfast and asked for the beans and tomatoes be omitted , the food turned up you guessed it beans on the plate, the plate was swapped over but the breakfast was poor, gone were the seasoned sausages the tea rooms were known for, the bacon appeared microwaved, the black pudding partially cooked ,even a poor transport cafe would have cooked a breakfast better I should have sent it back but who would have cooked it properly? this did not have the presentation/flavour of previous visits very disappointed , you're only as good as your last job, maybe time to give Whitstable's other...
