I had to come back and update this review, as you will see from my previous post I didn’t have the best experience and I was very non complementary about the quality of the food or the service. After family and friends recommending the Mayur in Carrickfergus, we somewhat reluctantly decided to give them another chance, and I am absolutely delighted that we did. Having had a number of meals now I can honestly say that it is no longer the same place as it was from my previous post. The food is amazing, always piping hot, quality of ingredients is excellent and the service is first class. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Carrickfergus, I really hope that they maintain the quality going forward because there isn’t anywhere else to match the Mayur in Carrickfergus. Keep the great work guys.
Being generous with two stars. Been twice and the second visit was a 'just in case' visit; just n case we got them on a bad day. We hadn't, the chicken was stringy and sinewy and when this pointed out to our server, he basically feigned he couldn't understand what I was telling him. He was able to understand me when I offered food and when paying the bill. Won't be back, maybe we just happened to hit it on two bad days, who knows, but we won't be back. When I want to enjoy an Indian meal we'll stay faithful to the Indian Ocean, supremely better food and by far the...
Read morePlease read first before judging the stars. Hard to summarise all these aspects when I had no service what so ever. Restaurant was completely empty. I was sat down with a menu straight away. No drinks orders taken and then nothing............no service at all. I decided to leave and that was the cue for the wait staff to suddenly take interest. Not good enough, I can't remember another time that I got up and left a restaurant for this reason. On the flip side the place I went to instead gave great service.
So for the star rating, service deserves no stars, it was non existant. The food, sadly, I didn't get to try so ignore the one star rating. I can't rate it, but I really wanted to. I can't select anything else so not an appropriate rating system. Atmosphere... No one else in there and not relevant to me....
Read moreThis restaurant is a hidden gem. It was my first visit Thursday lunchtime and it was quite busy which is usually a good sign. The staff were very friendly and courteous and I was seated and had my order taken reasonably quickly. I went for the three course lunch special at a touch under thirteen pounds. It turned out to be a great choice starter of chicken pakora was delicious and a generous portion for the price. Had a main of chicken madras with pilau rice again very well presented and spicy as I like my curry. Ice cream to finish the staff were attentive without being too intrusive and asked me if I had a good meal the answer was a resounding yes. I will return again as soon as I can possibly for the early bird menu in the evening which is also great value. Would recommend this place try it you will be happy...
