This was arguably the weirdest Indian/curry experience of my life. They've done dishes outside of the norm of a typical curry house which some of us liked and some of us hated. I'd rate 3.5, but defo not high enough for the 4 star. I'm adamant the abundance of 5 star reviews are written by staff/friends/family of Vrish. I can understand why some people have rated this place a lower star than me. The meat in the curry was great, but the side dishes really let this place down. Customer service was strange, started off super friendly, then almost became abit rude/passive aggressive when we didn't want to order starters. They decided to start clearing the table (extra 2 plates etc) whilst we are eating our poppadoms, was really intrusive and we were the ones who ended up having to do it for them whilst we were trying to talk/eat.

Rating for each aspect of the order:

Popadom sauces- 5 star They have mango chutney, almost a curry coleslaw, and some kind of tomatoey curryish sauce. I really liked them but others thought they were weird and would prefer the standard options. I can see why someone might hate them

Vrish Chicken Curry Special- 5 Star The sauce was flavourful and the chicken cooked perfectly. Was super moist and tender. It had a one chilli rating, but minimal heat in this dish

Sag Paneer- 1 Star This was the second worse Sag Paneer of my whole life, this was like 3x hotter than my curry. Not the nice creamy Sag Paneer I'm used to

Onion Bhaji- 2 Star Shapped like a mini hockey puck not a ball. Didn't have the usual crunchy exterior, and lacked flavour

Sag Aloo- 3 star Okay flavour, but mainly relying on spicyness. Again like 2x hotter than my curry, so disappointing

Keema Naan- 4 star This was a controversial one, very thin and not the standard crispy yet doughy consistency of a naan, but I actually liked it. I can see why some people might hate them though.

Treat that comes with bill- Negative 5 star Again breaking the norm of a chocolate or mint, instead offered a traditional after meal breath freshener from India. Which can only be described as liqorice/mint/dettol covered...

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday at this outstanding Indian restaurant, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment my family and I stepped in, we were enveloped in a warm, inviting atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

The culinary journey was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish, especially the chef's specials, was a masterpiece of flavors and aromas, showcasing the rich and diverse palette of Indian cuisine. The food was not just incredible; it was a delightful exploration of tastes that left us all deeply satisfied and eager to return.

What truly set this restaurant apart, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. Their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident in every interaction.

The highlight of the evening was the surprise birthday cake, a gesture that exceeded all expectations. It wasn't just a cake; it was a grand, delicious celebration of the occasion, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to creating memorable moments for their guests.

I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for not just a meal, but an extraordinary dining experience. The combination of exquisite food, a fantastic atmosphere, and stellar service makes it a place you'll want to revisit...

First time at Vrish and as a fellow Indian I know good Indian food when I see and taste it! This was really good. Food was so tasty! We had lamb Karahi, tandoori prawns, lamb , mattar paneer and lacha parantha etc. firstly the food was all sizzling hot and served very warm and the dishes had spice and flavour. The owners couldn’t do enough for us and made the lamb chettinand especially for my husband he said it was the best he has tasted. Portions are very good size and in fact we couldn’t finish it all and took some home, I never do this btw but the food was that good we didn’t want to waste it. The restaurant was busy as well it was New Year’s Eve. We are really fussy with Indian food so we are so pleased to have found this local gem at the bottom of our road. The owners are happy to take on feedback and they have plans to make the place more vibrant social and upmarket so please give them time to do this and get on their feet they are slowly ramping up and they want to succeed. They acknowledge they need to create more of an atmosphere to the place in terms of softer mood lighting and music etc and took on board all our feedback. This is not to say it wasn’t lovely it was! And very clean! Support your local businesses and economy all. Go try...

Tried the new Indian up the road VRISH. A lot more expensive than all the others around but thought that would translate to quality of food, my mistake because In what Indian is that a naan bread? cos in all the different Indian restaurants I’ve eaten from that is nothing like any of there naan bread and the korma was even worse it tasted like a packet curry mixed with water that they put a dash of cream in and called it a korma and tasted foul. Wasn’t even right texture or colour. Inedible!!! If you value your money and your taste buds stay far away from there. Their only saving grace was their service which was very good. I can only hope their real chef was off for some reason and had to have someone stand in.

The best authentic Indian food we've ever had! All the dishes we ordered were so flavourful and delicious! The lamb chop starter was insanely good, the meat fell off the bone and was seasoned perfectly. All the mains tasted so different unlike a lot of Indian resteraunts, where most dishes share the same taste but different spices. Vrish is like having a home cooked curry! The staff were very friendly and spoke with us after we finished our meal. Can't wait to already go back and will find any reason to go back.

Vrish lives up to its name - it's as authentic as Indian cuisine gets. I've been several times, and it never disappoints. The menu offers a fantastic variety, and every dish I've tried has been superb. Must-tries: Goan Fish Curry, Chilli Paneer, and Aloo Tikka Chaat. Weekends: Thali platters for lunch! The owners are wonderful and always accommodating too. Don't forget to finish with their delicious chai! Vrish is a must-visit.
