This was arguably the weirdest Indian/curry experience of my life. They've done dishes outside of the norm of a typical curry house which some of us liked and some of us hated. I'd rate 3.5, but defo not high enough for the 4 star. I'm adamant the abundance of 5 star reviews are written by staff/friends/family of Vrish. I can understand why some people have rated this place a lower star than me. The meat in the curry was great, but the side dishes really let this place down. Customer service was strange, started off super friendly, then almost became abit rude/passive aggressive when we didn't want to order starters. They decided to start clearing the table (extra 2 plates etc) whilst we are eating our poppadoms, was really intrusive and we were the ones who ended up having to do it for them whilst we were trying to talk/eat.
Rating for each aspect of the order:
Popadom sauces- 5 star They have mango chutney, almost a curry coleslaw, and some kind of tomatoey curryish sauce. I really liked them but others thought they were weird and would prefer the standard options. I can see why someone might hate them
Vrish Chicken Curry Special- 5 Star The sauce was flavourful and the chicken cooked perfectly. Was super moist and tender. It had a one chilli rating, but minimal heat in this dish
Sag Paneer- 1 Star This was the second worse Sag Paneer of my whole life, this was like 3x hotter than my curry. Not the nice creamy Sag Paneer I'm used to
Onion Bhaji- 2 Star Shapped like a mini hockey puck not a ball. Didn't have the usual crunchy exterior, and lacked flavour
Sag Aloo- 3 star Okay flavour, but mainly relying on spicyness. Again like 2x hotter than my curry, so disappointing
Keema Naan- 4 star This was a controversial one, very thin and not the standard crispy yet doughy consistency of a naan, but I actually liked it. I can see why some people might hate them though.
Treat that comes with bill- Negative 5 star Again breaking the norm of a chocolate or mint, instead offered a traditional after meal breath freshener from India. Which can only be described as liqorice/mint/dettol covered...

Read moreFirst time at Vrish and as a fellow Indian I know good Indian food when I see and taste it! This was really good. Food was so tasty! We had lamb Karahi, tandoori prawns, lamb , mattar paneer and lacha parantha etc. firstly the food was all sizzling hot and served very warm and the dishes had spice and flavour. The owners couldn’t do enough for us and made the lamb chettinand especially for my husband he said it was the best he has tasted. Portions are very good size and in fact we couldn’t finish it all and took some home, I never do this btw but the food was that good we didn’t want to waste it. The restaurant was busy as well it was New Year’s Eve. We are really fussy with Indian food so we are so pleased to have found this local gem at the bottom of our road. The owners are happy to take on feedback and they have plans to make the place more vibrant social and upmarket so please give them time to do this and get on their feet they are slowly ramping up and they want to succeed. They acknowledge they need to create more of an atmosphere to the place in terms of softer mood lighting and music etc and took on board all our feedback. This is not to say it wasn’t lovely it was! And very clean! Support your local businesses and economy all. Go try...
