The Tap and Clapper — Restaurant in Charnwood

Unfortunately I experienced a very unusual incident that i have never seen before in all the public houses I have ever been in (and that is quite a few). It was a Friday afternoon and I had just been served when the lady behind the bar refused to serve the next customer. He was a polite young man there with his young wife. He wanted a drink for himself but his wife did not drink. Apparently the reason he was not served was because his wife was not having a drink. The young man showed his I.D to prove he was old enough but was still refused. Then immediately afterwards an elderly man who was there with his young grandson was also refused. The reason given was that the boy was not old enough to drink (which was true enough) but his granddad only wanted to buy him a coke. The attitude of the woman behind the bar was totally dismissive and devoid of any reasoning. I decided to leave along with one or two others who found the womans' attitude totally unacceptable. Have visited a few times in the last 2 months after recently moving to Loughborough and still haven’t had a pleasant experience. All tables sticky, smashed glass everywhere and when trying to introduce myself to land lady to address this am told she is rarely present and rarely sober. Worst pub I’ve ever been to, staff and owners are rude and arrogant. They wouldn’t know what customer service was if it slapped them in the face. 3 fights started while we were there and there was absolutely ZERO social distancing! When we asked that a group of guys weren’t sat right next to us (due to 2 metre rule) we were mocked by the staff. There’s about 6 pubs within 100 metres that are excellent. Never going to this...
