Absolutely awful! Booked a table about a month ago when i arrived told them who I was and showed them confirmation of my table booking. I was then told that they have been trying to contact me ( no, they had not) I informed the man that I have had no missed calls voicemessages or email of any contact from them. They clearly had over booked! I was then told that they could put me a table together but it wouldnt seat the party of 15 i originally booked for but only 12 people and I had to wait 25 minutes which I was Absolutely fine with 45mins later still no table which I then approached the bar staff and was then redirected to the man that told me he could put me a table together. He then told others to leave as the table was booked. We then seated had to get our own menus and then had to flag the man down to place our order in the middle of plaving the order he completely ignored my cousin who was placing her order and walked off to the bar! Which was very rude he then came back for which she then placed her order he then said he would be as quick as he can. On returning he placed down a plate which I did not order and I stated this he said it was free for rhe trouble but I already ordered my food surely he would just deduct the price off for my meal not offer me another meal aswel that may i add tadted like canned chickenl! One of my friends portion looked as if it was a child's portion and the food looked thrown together. I then complained about the whole situation on which he barred me and refused me any drink I was not rude in anyway just stated that the service was awful and the whole situation was a complete nightmare which he then snapped at me in front of my whole table told me the food will be free but I could never return and asked me to leave which I refused as I was there with 15 other people. He then refused to serve me a drink at the bar. Absolutely disgusted and never been treated so poorly in a restaurant. I understand its a busy time of year but that is no excuse to be treated in such a disrespectful mannor. I will state that this was a very sad occasion for the meet up it was my mum's death anniversary and some of my family had come from differant towns and a few of them couldn't even eat as there was no room at the table it was an absolute disaster table was booked for 7 didn't get seated until 8 and food didn't arrive until around 835 the wait for food was not the problem it was everything else the man clearly should not be running the place to be treating his...

I appreciate I turned up to the Church House on a busy Saturday night, however the customer service was still appalling. I arrived by the entrance and the waitress blanked myself and my partner multiple times, till the point I had to directly ask her if she could seat us. Once we were told we could have a meal after not booking, we went to sit down with no clear instruction as to where we needed to sit. We had asked to sit outside but it was full (which we understood as not booked) so we agreed to sit inside, however we were rudely asked to move from one table inside to a smaller one, even though the waitress did not tell us where to sit! After sitting at the table for a while, we were getting impatient as no menu had been given to us, even though we clearly stated we were at the restaurant for food. Once we had received the menus from the less than friendly waitress, we decided to order a cocktail from a jar, however we were told this was not available as all the jars were in use, even though as she said this another waitress was bringing an empty jar down from another table. I was annoyed that not only did she not really bother to sort the jar, she did not offer to accommodate us with just having normal glasses for cocktails, it was an attitude of can’t be bothered that really started to grate us. The final nail in the coffin of our experience is when three people came into restaurant after us who also did not book, and sat down next to us. The group of 3 wanted to sit outside like we did, however they were shown to a inside table next to our selves, after 5 minutes the manager found them a table outside, even though he knew myself and my partner wanted to sit outside! After all this we decided to go and assumed as it was just the two of us that they did not see our business as important as the group of three, I went to the waitress to say we were leaving so do not worry about the drinks, to which she just looked at me blankly and said nothing. Overall I found the waitress who served us and the manager to be rude and not very customer...

Walked past this place so many times but finally entered to grab a quick bite to eat

Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At the top of Town with a good amount of parking right outside. Very easy to get to!

Interior ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Probably not everyone's taste but the rather strange vibe of semi naked artwork, greek/roman statues and the gorgeous high ceilings with domes just worked for me. The place was also very clean and tidy.

Service ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The guy doing the serving was very polite, happy to explain the menu and brought the food quickly. We did have to grab his attention in order to pay, but he was happy to split the bill for us and overall was a very friendly chap.

Food ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Again I was pleased with the food we had. Let's not pretend it was gourmet or anything but it was a solid eat, Seasoned well and presented sensibly. Overall no complaints on what we got for what we paid.

Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At around £10 a plate we thought it was pretty good value. £3 for a pint of coke or carling is also pretty good.

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 for all areas in my opinion. This place is not somewhere I would say is unbelievable but I would say it beat all my expectations based on first impressions so I will be back for more...

Reserved a table for 9 for a birthday meal with family and what a charm of a place this is. It is a beautiful place with absolutely gorgeous food and wonderful service, especially from Oliver. He was very attentive and approachable to all members of our party even our younger ones, and offered a pudding as a birthday treat! The food was delicious! Simply delicious! I would highly recommend this place and have already recommended to friends and family, even those who live further away. Thankyou so much for a lovely meal x

A generous 2 stars, the single cask ale is off, honestly, why do pubs like this bother serving cask, if it's not available, or you don't have enough custom to justify having it on the bar? Chose half an Estrella instead, £2.80, yet the pint is proudly displayed for £4.95, why am I paying a premium for having a smaller measure? I suspect you think nobody will notice, I'll keep calling out pubs who rip off their customers. The place has so much potential, but fails to capitalise on the beautiful building it occupies.
