I truly wanted to give 5 stars, because when we visited for breakfast, the food was lovely, the lad that took our order (he was new to the job) was ever so polite and friendly.... However! Unfortunately we sat at the front of the restaurant indoors so we could get some daylight... As customers were sitting outside the door kept being opened, some would close it behind them, but some wouldn't.... The Aircon was on too, so quite chilly with the door too.... We had just finished our delicious meal, but decided to move tables so I could finish my coffee as the door situation and having to get up every 2 secs to shut behind those who were born in the barn!!! Was really annoying. That's when things went from pleasant to "horrible" a member of staff made a sarcastic comment "everyone's moving tables today haha I find it hilarious" which immediately got my back up! I'm not your pal you can get away with your cheeky little side swipes I am a paying customer! Who does not need or appreciate jumped up little comments in their life!!! I told my partner to pay and let's go, I told him what was said and I asked to leave as that one comment had made my stomach go from being pleasantly content to unsettled with a bitter taste... The waitress in question after being pulled up by my partner on what was said loudly claimed "it wasn't aimed at us" well why say it just as we moved tables and you walked past! At this point I could feel myself getting angry and annoyed the mouth on it was big enough to say it, but not admit it (a trait in humans I can't stand!) I gave my partner my card to pay and walked away outside to calm down..... I have autism and ADHD so I don't handle situations like this very well.... And took me all day to get over and feel settled..... When my partner eventually came out he said another lady came over to talk to him who after a conversation offered our breakfast on the house..... I never did get to finish my coffee which was a decent coffee too.... It's just a shame that one incident...
Read moreBeing a long-time customer and local who visits regularly with their family, it is a shame to see how this place has rapidly declined in service. A couple of weeks ago a waitress spilt my tea over the table as she put the cup down and returned with napkins which she handed to me and walked off. It’s worth noting that I, and my family, are friendly and happy people who always leave at least a 10% tip. My brother in law laughed at me for how I was expected to clean up the waitresses mess. Anyway, not a problem. Odd, but not a huge problem. Today, I went there on my own for a carvery and was sat waiting for ages for someone to take my order which, again, isn’t a problem but it is very odd when more than three waitresses were chatting and laughing in front of the till area whilst customer were ignored. During this time a chap and two ladies who had entered had got up and left in frustration. I cannot say that I blame them. Hadn’t seen them before, so assume they were holidays makers. Anyway, the carvery tasted poor, no flavour and the chap who cut the meats literally didn’t care and half of the slice of gammon was fat. Again, not a huge problem, but disappointing. I sat waiting to pay for a long time and eventually went to the till and paid the lady there. She, literally, gave me my change and said “There. Bye.” and I had done absolutely nothing wrong or hadn’t said a thing; then I realised it was just her manner. Interestingly enough, I came home and bumped into my neighbour who had come from the restaurant with friends who were visiting earlier in the day. When I asked how did she find it, she mentioned that her friends found the staff rude, especially when paying (as they also had to go to the till as well). Clearly, there seems to be some kind of issue at the moment, but regardless, it’s very disappointing to be treated in such a way despite loyal and long-standing custom. I won’t be returning any time soon. The Boulevard has lost a customer, and the staff have lost someone who...
Read moreWe are long standing customers. We have been coming down on holiday every year. My mum has been coming in this restaurant for over 40 years since she was little with my Grandma and Grandad and when she had me and my brother, who is now 26, we too came in when we were babies. Unfortunately… it’s not the same anymore. A lot has changed including the name, which is confusing especially for the older generation. The thing that really upset us was being told that you don’t and never have done steak and kidney pies when you definitely did because we had one last year and always have done for many years. It’s such a shame because it was one of our favourite meals. And then the same woman who served us told us we couldn’t have a scrambled egg instead of a fried egg, because apparently it had gone past 12 noon!! 😮 We hope they are still doing the carvery as they were really lovely, because we couldn’t see them or any roast dinners on the menu! To end a positive note, their thickshakes are delicious I have always loved them! And the new lighting outside...
