Bacco Wine — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

The only nice thing in this bar, was the atmosphere. We came for date night and we were looking for some nice wines, maybe some cheeses, even in higher price range.

It took some time before we were even seated, after that everyone has better job, than give us some menu, one of them also ate some noodles on the bar in front of guess, when we were waiting.

After quite some time we choose wine what was recommended to us, but when we tried it, it was anything but good wine. When we looked the price on internet the wine which cost us 30 pounds, cost 10 pounds...Which was not what we were happy about. I understand profit is needed, but that much?

Also when we came, we were told by one of the staff that the kitchen is closing in 5 minutes and we cant order food. When another waitress comes in, about 30 minutes after and asks, If we want the food menu, for ordering the...

There's a fine line between rustic and farmhouse, and basic. This straddled both camps.

The food was delicious and we couldn't fault what we had.

The menu is extremely limited. Whilst I understand that part of the sell is that limitation, because it feeds into the fact the food is so delicious, it would have been nice to have a bigger menu.

It was, busy and thriving with a great mix of people, which was good.

There were six of us in the party and a table had been reserved, which was a bench at the back of the room. It was exceptionally narrow and jammed into a window corner. Whilst we managed to use it, it is in no way big enough for six people, including all plates, etc.

Would we return? For the food, absolutely. For the overall experience? Quite probably. As a matter of wow destination?...

What an absolute gem of a place!! I have walked past the door hundreds of times & always been very keen to visit. It surpassed all expectations!! Fantastic wine selection & the food from The Artisan Pasta Maker next door made the entire experience all the more special. Massive shout out to Santiago who was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable & great fun. The bar was completely full but he handled every customer with great care and attention & somehow, made it look effortless. A complete pro!! This is my new favourite place in Edinburgh. Can't wait to come...
