New Town Rooms — Hotel in City of Edinburgh

The place was extremely clean , as was the kitchen , Toilets and room . |My room when entering my room it had a very strong musty smell , i assume it was from the shower . The room is very small , and remember no windows so no fresh air the room has a Dyson fan . There are 6 room available all located in the basement . Above that is the Reception area , the kitchen and one of the Toilets . So beware when guest are arriving or hanging around in the reception area you will hear it , also you will hear every-time someone walks up and down the stairs . The room aren’t sound proof i could hear my neighbours all night . This is a nice place for a one night stay , basic and all you need . For dinner i went to the fish n chip shop not far , it was delicious. |They have a luggage storage , i assume it would be locker but it just bicycle locks and you would need a suitcase , i had a rucksack so was unable to leave as had no lock . I couldn't recommend this place to anyone.

There is 0 noise cancelling, stayed here 4 nights and did not sleep at all, because you can pretty much hear the room next to you breathing. If you've inconsiderate guests staying you just won't sleep. Additionally if anyone is moving around outside the rooms or up the stairs or doing anything upstairs its loud.

The entire area where the bedrooms were stunk of smoke, apparently due to a neighbouring building, but it was pretty disgusting. Shared toilet was pretty unclean on arrival

The rooms are very small, cramped, with no airflow. The place overall is just like a little dungeon, the pricing is pretty good but you genuinely are getting what you pay for here, my advice is pay up and get somewhere where you're able to sleep. Bed & Breakfast with very uncomfortable rooms. Being very aware of the whole “you get what you pay for”, the rooms (in the basement) are tiny and not soundproofed at all. The stairs leading to the rooms generate an awful loud and squeaky noise that can be heard in any of the rooms (I stayed at number 5, away from the staircase). On top, the shared toilet is also very loud and flooded room 5 with any noise from someone visiting it. Stayed for 2 nights and could not sleep properly throughout my stay.
