If your working class you'll be made to feel unwelcome , Farmers markets are in the main aimed at the affluent classes , that's why they perk up and will serve Litle Mrs/Mr Entitled over you even when your there first getting ready to pay. Loads of foriengers selling at prices on produce they would not do back home . Farmers hopping a Chinese toursit or similar will pay a £5 a carrot , they dont even need a string . Don't buy into this line about farmers markets being for the good of the country , its for the good of self interest . Like most things that have Edinburgh Councl involed to any degree. I bought a few products because I also swallowed the line about supporting local . But the veg I got home was bad and I used it on the day of purchase , There was a bakers selling expensive pasteres flies on it bought it for a laugh and you'd get beter quality at Greegs. Most of the stall holders seem miserable and self entitled just want you to chuck good money at them and be on your way . When the best thing would be to sell of the entire council off on this market then shut them all down people could have their city back . I really feel for residents in Stockbridge which used to be a very nice and quit area of Edinburgh . They also had fresh dead birds hanging up over Christmas can you even imagine the public outcry if a Halal bucher hd done the same in this country ?? A disgrace and upeseting for Children yet I'm sure the same radio 4 brigade who force these ventures on our communites and streets would have us believe that us working class need to go vegan . Double standards !!!! Oh yeah and what has the likes of Paella got to do with a Scottish farmers market ? The great gentrification swindle rolls through Edinburgh even a pandemic can't...
Read moreA really good second-hand shop. They live with the donations of the other people. They are a charity shop.
Where I'm from, we don't have this type of shops, and it's a really good idea for the people cannot buy something new. The price of the all products are really well. Also, when you buy something you help another people because they can have something for living.
Also if you have something you don't need. You can give them for free. And they can sell for have some benefits and help the people they really need help.
What I can recommend you, it's visiting that shop and buy something for help them. With that we also can contribute in the society and help the people...
Read moreAs other reviewers have noted, if you're looking for a 'grocery market' then look somewhere else; this is mainly artisan produce and crafts which makes it a) very Stockbridge and b) a great place to visit every few weeks.
From whole pheasants to lemon meringue marshmallows and asian curry; this market has a great roster of stalls which always feel fresh. Most of the producers are rotated meaning you don't get half a dozen stalls selling the same items each week.
Only downside in my opinion is the number of dogs and buggies which end up in the very compact space, but apart from that, it's well worth a visit and I'm always happy that it's busy and looks to...
