I've been here several times and it's just getting worse. Most recently I went on a Saturday lunchtime and found the place to be disfunctional, though the food is good.
Straightaway I was told they don't do poached eggs at busy times, such as then. There was no queue and everyone seated had food already. I asked for ketchup that was never brought out and then when I was getting a brownie after my meal and took time to decide, they guy made a song and dance about having better things to do though he spent most of the time on his phone and failed to clean any tables during the duration of our visit.
There was also no outdoor seating apparently because of a "mix up' with organising the licensing.
The NTD is a nice restaurant in a good location, but stuff like this happens everytime I visit- they bulk mess up orders, or it's unexpectedly closed or what ever. There's no shortage of cafes in the area, so why not stick to all the great ones that are a bit...

After about 30 seconds, a man appeared behind the counter and barked "we're closed". Slightly baffled by this greeting, I let him know that they were open until 4.00pm online - assuming he'd like to know about the incorrect info. Instead, he stared back and muttered "everything's gone and I'm packing up...obviously."
Apparently it was just too difficult to say "Hi, sorry we're closing early today"
Pathetic service,...
Read moreThis place was always overpriced but they're really pushing it now. It's over £5 for a baguette or wrap, and another £3 to add some fries. I know it's on the edge of Stockbridge but it's been 2 big price bumps over the last few months, and damn, 3 quid for a box of fries is ridiculous. If you are mindful of the environment and avoid animal products, that'll be an extra 40p for some almond/oat drink in your coffee too. Sure, the food is nice but not nicer than anywhere else, so you might as well go somewhere where the prices make sense. Bluebird nearby is usually a good bet for decent food and prices but there are other good places literally next...
