I'm not that much of a burger person, so I ordered the Chicken Luther burger (with donuts instead of bread buns). It was the best burger I've ever had. The donuts compliment the meat just like any honey glaze does. You can taste the sweetness but it's not overwhelming or separate from the rest of the burger. It was very difficult and messy to eat with my hands though.
I also ordered the raspoutine, which was again delicious. Toppings (gravy, cheese, bacon bits) were very nicely distributed over the chips so no chip was left bare. They don't cheap out with the toppings either. That of course shows in the price.
There were four mocktails, one of each we ordered. We were all quite happy with our mocktails. I especially liked the virgin colada. The mocktails were £4, as opposed to the £6,50 - £11 mocktails I've been served before that were just juice and ice. Which is not to say that some of these mocktails weren't just juice, syrup and ice, but they were priced fairly.
I was glad I split the raspoutine because that meant I had some space left to try the caramel apple cake/tart. It was unlike cakes I'm used to. The layers (from bottom to top) were: crumble layer, apple filling, crumble layer, caramel. It fell apart while eating, but I didn't mind it. The tart and the ice cream it was served with were delicious.
Like any restaurant with a lot of customers and music playing, it was quite loud. However, I wouldn't say it was louder than other similar restaurants. I recommend booking a table in advance as the other location was already packed by 6pm. This location was almost...
Read moreOverall good experience, the waiters came quite fast and checked in during our stay asking if we need anything.
The food itself was good. Portions were OK size for the price.
The venue seems to expect a 10% 'service fee' or tip fee they charge by default. As someone coming from a country where tipping is non-existent, I found this quite surprising, even bold to say so.
The waiter also came to handout the bill when we hadn't finished yet, which seemed quite a rude gesture for a quiet night (place was maybe 1/3rd full).
These two points made me remove a star each from the 'Service' Google review category.
Athmosphere 3/5 due to the fact when it's winter, there is a lot of cold coming in to the venue. We were seated about halfway in but it was quite cold.
Another star removed due to the noise of the music and the fact it can be hard to have a conversation at the table due to noise of others. Place could aquire some sound dampening measures.
Toilets were located underground, after 3 flights of stairs a spacious bathroom is available.
Great for a quick bite, but expect a default tip add to your bill and wear a sweater...
Read moreCame my here of a recent weekend break to Edinburgh with some friends. We were warmly welcomed upon entering and shown to a table. The service throughout was attentive but not overbearing! We went during late lunch time, so it was quite quiet. We all enjoyed our meals! I ordered the moving mountains burger, but asked this to be relaxed to a vegetarian burger as opposed to vegan, which was accommodated with no problem. Our food came out quickly and was piping hot. I really enjoyed the tater tots, which were a nice change for fries! They were super crispy (albeit a couple at the bottom of the dish) and had a nice oniony flavour, like any good hash brown. The burger was nicely cooked and the cheesy wonderfully melty. I really loved the seeded bun, which was very fresh and had been lightly toasted on the inside, providing additional texture and flavour. I also feel our meals were quick reasonably priced as we got them as part of the lunch time deal - I'd advise asking for this menu if you go during the week at lunch time, otherwise you might end up spending more than you could be! I'd highly recommend giving Bread Meats...
