âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Dropkick Murphyâs â Edinburghâs Best Craic in a Pint Glass!
If youâre looking for the heart and soul of Irish hospitality in the middle of Edinburgh, Dropkick Murphyâs is where you want to be. Whether youâre a local legend or a wandering tourist, stepping into Dropkickâs feels like walking into your home-away-from-home â but with better Guinness and a much louder singalong.
I landed in the pub on a Wednesday night (aka Westlife Wednesday) not really knowing what to expect. Within five minutes, I was waving my pint in the air, harmonizing badly to âFlying Without Wings,â surrounded by a buzzing crowd of equally tone-deaf but wildly enthusiastic strangers. Free T-shirts for karaoke? Yes. Belting ballads with full pub support? Absolutely. A place where boyband dreams never die? You bet.
But what truly makes this place special isnât just the music or the pints â itâs the people. Special shoutout to the manager rocking the GAA jersey and the most iconic moustache in Scotland. This man is the spirit of Dropkickâs. Watching him work the room like a maestro of mayhem â greeting regulars, posing for selfies, sorting the sound system, and maybe even sneaking in a few lyrics â was pure joy. You can tell heâs not just managing a bar; heâs curating an experience.
The drinks are affordable, the staff are legends, the crowd is friendly, and the vibe? Electric.
Dropkick Murphyâs isnât just a pub â itâs a rite of passage. Go once, and youâll understand. Go twice, and youâll never want to...
Read moreI recently visited this dump and had one of the worst experiences I've lever had at a bar. To start, I participated in a drinking contest that was completely unfair. The rules were changed on the spot, and there was no transparency about how the contest was being judged.
But what made things worse was the behavior of the bar manager. Not only was he dishonest about how the contest was being run, but when I raised my concerns, he was dismissive and rude. It became clear that the staff were not prioritizing safety or fairness.
As a woman, I also felt deeply uncomfortable at times. There was no effort to ensure that the space was welcoming or safe for all customers. The managerâs attitude and the overall environment made me feel unsafe, and I would not recommend this bar to anyone, especially women.
This place needs serious management changes, and I would urge people to stay away until the bar addresses these issues. There are plenty of other places in town where you can have fun and...
Read moreI'm afraid to say that I was thoroughly disappointed, and can't recommend this establishment to anyone in future. Firstly, the pub is not cheap (as if often reported), given that I paid £5 for a pint and £3.50 for a shot. What really disappointed me, however, was the fact that the beers tasted "yeasty" due to unclean pipes. I finished two different pints, both of which tasted vile. I finished these, did not complain, and did not ask for a refund. As we left the bar, I politely mentioned to a bartender (possibly the manager) that they should clean their draft lines more frequently in future. He proceded to argue with me, saying that they wash their pipes every two weeks and that I must be mistaken as if a) don't know what a beer should taste like, and b) that my concerns as a customer were not to be addressed. It's a...
