Read moreMy favourite Edinburgh pub. Small, cozy, comfortable and very pleasant. It's situated down a close off the High Street. You feel you are walking back in time as you approach the entrance. There is a good selection of beers, whiskies and gins. Check with the bartenders on the Scottish ales being of offered that day. Like most pubs, ask for a sample before buying. It only makes sense to make an informed decision on your pint (or half). I'd like to see the management push the tasting options. It makes sense that someone who enjoys their small batch craft beer will be inclined to return. Come for the cosy ambience and stay for the libations. Doc's (my) kudos points 4 out of 5. Well done management and staff.
I visited many times since my original post and my opinion has not changed. Many good quality libations in an old world atmosphere. Be aware that they do not serve food. One admonition is that I would ask management to instruct staff not to swear in their conversations, it reflects badly on the establishment and on Scotland as a whole.
