Nice and friendly, good coffees. 👍 Wow ... what a fab place, with a lovely setting. Great location, Miros is situated right on the promenade overlooking Portobello beach ⛱️ its a fantastic beach. Had a fabulous walk along here and the beach is huge and has everything, cafes, tea rooms, amusements, a new leisure centre, vans for cake, snacks, the regular burgers, hot dogs etc. Also ... public toilets available too on the promenade. Finding ourselves in Miros felt warm and relaxing inside, the staff were attentive and served us lovely ☕️ coffees. There's a fabulous extensive menu. A breakfast menu 8.00-12 and such a huge choice of food for brunch and evening menu including baked seabass, prices are reasonable too. It is really quite spacious inside and tastefully decorated. A wonderful find as a cafe/restaurant to visit and has everything eg burgers, pastas, and great selection of seafood, tempura prawns. You must look as there's something for everyone. You can pop in for just coffees, teas and also choose from a great selection of cakes/deserts, rainbow cake caught my eye on the menu and lighter bites available too.😋 👌xxx

My husband and I planned to have lunch here because we wanted to enjoy Portobello Beach. After we finished ordering food and drinks from the male waiter, I asked if there were any desserts. He told me to go inside the restaurant to see some cake options and order directly there. When I was about to speak to a man at the cashier, suddenly a female waiter interrupted me in a very arrogant manner, raising her voice and being extremely rude, and told me to leave. This happened to the point where several guests turned to look at me as if I were a criminal. I came to this place to eat and pay, not to beg. Or maybe, because I am Asian, they felt they could treat me however they wanted. I am a Head Chef at a 5-star hotel in Edinburgh, and if she were one of my F&B staff, she would probably already be given a stage 3 warning for such extremely impolite behavior. Fortunately, I cancelled all my orders and will never come to this place again.

It was sometime I didn't go to the Promenade. I found this new place and decided to give a try. For those who don't know the area, you are in front of Portobello beach, great views but not a great choice of restaurants/food places. Well, now there is a place fully worth to stop by! We had two different soups puff the day, both very healthy and good, even the toasted bread served with the soup was over the average bread served around. My wife had a second starter, wild mushrooms on toasted bread and she lived them. I went for a classic burger: the meat was fantastic, both for texture and taste. And they have a selection of cakes that competes worth the best pastry shops in town (if you know Casa Angelina you will like this place too). Worth to be tried! Only a minor complaint: no real ales, but some great wine (Primitivo di Manduria is not the every place kind of red wine)

I was very upset today by the staff at Miro's Village Musselburgh, living in Musselburgh not many places in Musselburgh are wheelchair friendly, but Miros is, I tell my friends and Family its great food, n support this café, but today I had the worst experience you can ever image with the staff, I asked my family to meet me there for lunch, as they were coming from school , first they opened the door for me, I asked to use the toilet, normally they say ok, but on this accassion I was told the toilet was only for customers, I knew I was going to have lunch with my family there anyway, so I just went straight to the toilet, after I transferred n sat down , I was given a menu, I asked for 4 as my Family's coming too, not a problem the staff gave me 3 more, my Daughter arrived first, who ordered Mc n cheese few minutes later, my Son arrived who ordered Mc n chesse too then my Husband arrived after he managed to park the car, he ordered cullun skink soup and i ordered the Mussaka which I love, but I cut through it as I notice it was very watery not the usual, so I told the staff that it was watery no tomatoes, didn't taste the same she asked if I wanted another, or anything else I said "no its OK, I'll just share from my family thank you", when we finished, my Daughter went to pay, as I went to the toilet came back I looked at the receipt, I was charged for the Mussaka, I thought they made a mistake so I went to the till to explain that I didn't have the Mussaka, I returned it back, first the guy said that it's because you had a bit out of it, I said it wasn't right, so I sent it back, I said to the lady who served she said "yes it was watery and I asked if you wanted something else you said no", the guy said we were told to charge you because you've already had some, I said ,if I hadn't of tasted the mussaka I wouldnt of known it was that bad. Ive had this dish before and thoroughly enjoyed , thats why I chose it for lunch on this occasion. Only this time it was watery I even shown the lady who served us , she also agree by looking at it, she piped up and said you do this everytime you come here you always do this, I was so upset! I couldn't believe they wouldn't give my money back for something that never even had, I remembered the time I had to send it back because, they put Mozerella cheese n not parhamsan cheese because they ran out again it didn't taste the same so I returned it back, I asked the lady who served me "would you eat something that you wasn't happy with she replied No I wouldn't " I said "well, that's exactly what's happened here". I can tell the difference between this dish as I have had it serveral times. They both argued with me! Today I was very upset, I think the girl called Jasmine, she was the one who served me yesterday, I was there for breakfast again with a friend I had ordered cullun skink soup it was delicious, they said I do that everytime I come that was not true! which i was very upset , also my Son couldn't eat his food I asked if I could take it away please, so she gave me a take away box, if I do this all the time, I still paid for my Son's food that he couldn't eat! I had to put up a fight when it was Jasmine kindly who give me back my money, I was told we will not be doing this again, as a paying customer, this was appalling behaviour from 2 of the staff members very rude, I was very very upset that I cryed...

This is a place that has enormous potential, yet untapped.

We were just strolling on Portobello Beach and wanted to treat ourselves to a cuppa with a nice view.

We were disappointed by the following:

  1. The coffees are extremely overpriced for such a place and for Edinburgh. This is not the Balmoral and only two tables in the entire restaurant offer (relatively average) views on the sea. I understand they roast their own coffee, yet that does not make paying over 3 pounds for a cappuccino worthy. I suggest moving away from in-house roasting if this is what's driving the excessively high coffee prices.

  2. The premises themselves are COLD on a chilly winter day. Makes the high prices even more unbearable. At least give me a warm, comfy and pleasant environment! The owners may wish to consider investing in heating, again, over in-house coffee roasting.

  3. I ordered an espresso and waited 20 MINUTES and had to remind the waiter/waitress. This is unacceptable in any place, but even more so in such a place that purports itself to be a prime spot, yet offers overpriced coffee in a cold environment and long waiting times.

  4. A reviewer working in hospitality noted that the vibe is not perfect. Indeed there might be some issues in the team, as we also did not feel a great welcome. Only one waiter was kind enough to smile, but they seemed generally distracted and in that type of mood where they are sort of making you a favour. Nothing bad happened, but one can sense such vibe.

All in all, sorry guys but it's...

The two stars are for 1. the café "accepts" dogs and the music was really great, and 2. the coffee (macchiato) was really good. Three stars taken off for: 1. the food was so below average, barely eatable !! 2. the staff is not too friendly (apart from one girl and one young man) and it is not dog friendly at all! Not even a bowl of water outside.... Food: king prawn penne, apparently worth £15 one meal: overcooked pasta, remining a school kitchen and although menu stated chilly among other ingrediencies, chilly seemed to be the theme, there. I like spicy food but this was beyond - they should serve it with a glass of milk to neutralise... I was really really starving so I ate about half of the plate (prawns and some pasta) but could not eat more as it turned to be stomach upsetting. Literally - I was so unwell the whole night!!

Dogs welcome...well....I appreciate that the restaurant is primarily for people, of course! But being pretty much off shores, expecting that dogs to be perfectly clean and not thirsty... and every time the staff passed our table, they gave me this look... apart from the girl who served us, she was really lovely and friendly!

In sum - if you do not have a dog and would like a really good coffee, excellent coffee, actually, great place this is. If you like okay enough staff and food where you taste nothing but 5-chilly labelled overcooked pasta, also a...
