My recent visit to Mum's Great Comfort Food was a delightful experience, even though it required a bit of patience due to the long wait time. But let me tell you, the wait was absolutely worth it. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in a cozy, inviting atmosphere that felt like a warm hug. The restaurant's interior is charming and meticulously clean, making it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the Shepherd's Pie. This dish was everything I hoped it would be and more. The mashed potatoes were incredibly creamy, with just the right amount of seasoning, forming a perfect golden crust over the savory filling below. The ground meat was tender and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the medley of vegetables. Each bite was a comforting blend of textures and tastes that left me feeling completely satisfied. It’s the kind of dish that sticks with you, making you want to come back for more.
While the food alone would have made the visit memorable, what really elevated the experience was the amazing service. The servers at Mum’s are truly exceptional. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure every aspect of the dining experience was enjoyable. Despite the restaurant being busy, they never seemed rushed and took the time to ensure that each guest felt valued and well taken care of. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it really made a difference.
On top of all this, the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. Mum's Great Comfort Food is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a meal that feels like it was made with love and care. Yes, you might have to wait a bit, but trust me, it’s worth every minute. If you want a place that combines great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Mum’s is the place to be. I can’t...
Read moreTried this place twice. The first time, we were asked to step outside to wait for a few minutes for a table to open up. After about ten minutes, another party walked up; we told them we had checked in already, so they walked inside and were immediately given a table. Apparently, the person who told us to wait did not communicate with the host about us waiting for a table. When we told the host about us waiting, she blamed us for being out of line of sight (even though the next day she asked people who were waiting to stand exactly where we had been waiting).
The food was okay during our visit, and my sister-in-law really enjoyed the chocolate tart, so we decided to come back the next day after dinner specifically for the chocolate tart. We came at about 6:30pm and were told they would have a table available around 7. At about 6:55 when some tables were opening up, I asked if they could start the order for the chocolate tart to save us some time and to open up a table quicker for other people waiting to actually eat dinner. The host said that was not a possibility.
When we were finally sat, we had to wait another fifteen minutes before someone came to our table. We were blamed for the wait saying that because our menus were not sitting out, they thought our order was already taken (we already knew we just wanted one chocolate tart). We finally got the chocolate tart after waiting another twenty minutes, and it came out burnt. By then, we had already had our time wasted too much to say anything (and we’d been blamed for their lack of service each time already, so why bother?).
To summarize, the food is okay (hit and miss), but the service makes it not worth coming back for. They don’t communicate with each other, and if they mess up, it’s the patron’s fault. Doesn’t make it an...

The pouring rain forced us to seek temporary shelter at MUMS, and we were warmly greeted, but informed that there were no available seats for two, and we would have to wait 30 mins for the next one. At the entrance was an available seat for one and a table for four. A young man sat in the table for four, and when we asked if we could move one of the chairs over to the table of one, the waitress cited a fall risk (reasonable). The strange thing however was how the seating was assigned to allow a single customer to seat in the table of four when there was a table for one right beside him (he had no other party members as we sat in later and he left alone after finishing his meal)
Nevertheless, we sought to comply as the waitress was firm but fair. We left to face the rain and after checking out a few shops, luck would have it that a seat would become available. For the first time in my life I had haggis and steak pie and they were absolutely delicious. If you wanted to try real haggis this was the place to do it. Would highly recommend the food here.
However, it is also the first time I have experienced a food restaurant with great food but poor seating management. I began to take notice of how service staff would regularly turn people away saying the same line of 30 mins waiting time and would not tell them to wait at the door or anything (Happened at least three times) A couple of guys left and came back 20ish mins later and were told that their table had been filled… I hope the owners can really do something about this as it would be a shame if this were to be a hinderance to a great...
