What a discovery.. shame we didn't discover it sooner (we only visited this place the week we moved although we passed by a few times). We tried it once, initially sceptical but hopeful given the 4 different cuisines (Filipino, Japanese, Greek and Chinese).. an ambitious menu but we were positively impressed.. So much that we returned with more family and again on subsequent occasions - been once a week since we found this place! Everything we tried was delicious.. Filipino dishes chicken adobo and pork kare kare were delicious, and sushi was also tasty with exquisite presentation - just be careful to mention allergies since not all ingredients weren't listed on their menu (I have a shellfish allergy and the speciality rolls all have prawn)! We also tried the rice burger today and though simple (in terms of ingredients), I became a convert.. loved the crispiness ;-) Wakami salad, salmon maki and beef ramen are always a hit with our wee one! My partner tried the Greek wraps and he was impressed. We also had a pork belly dish from the Chinese menu and the bao buns! Lastly, this is a family run business and being here makes me feel like home (I'm a Filipino Canadian who moved to the UK) and getting my Filipino fix (especially since done well and made fresh) hits the spot! Plus they are super friendly and engaging people whom we have a lot of time for. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place. Incredible value as well.. what a gem! They will no doubt outgrow their current venue and be a roaring success. Do check them out..you won't be...
Read moreWhen I first heard about Peter's food hub I was skeptical about how good the food could be given they had to tackle 4 very different cuisines. Most often I give these restaurants a miss as they end up compromising on quality and authenticity for variety and appealing to people who may not know any better. But we saw the glowing reviews and had to give this a shot..
We've now been several times to Peter's Food Hub these past few weeks and it's clear that's not the case.
Their menu is also crazy affordable with down to earth authentic tastes that surpass any fancy restaurants you see in the UK.
We were in particularly amazed by the filipino and japanese food they serve:
-Their pork adobo is a must try and is one of our favourites. Adobo is often different for every filipino family and this must be the best version I've had yet. -Halo Halo. A traditional filipino dessert. Fantastic and hard to find in Edinburgh so I'm glad they serve this as part of their "secret" menu. -Their sushi is made fresh to order; even the sushi rice is fresh, slightly warm and has perfect texture and taste. It's hard to find this kind of detail and freshness in even in alot of japanese restaurants in the UK or Europe.
It's no small feat to run a small family owned business with so much demand yet maintain the consistency, service and quality of their food to such a high degree. Believe the glowing reviews as it's much deserved. These guys are the real deal, they work hard to deliver great food, and I hope they continue to serve great food to the community for as long as...
Read moreSecond visit: I went in the second time and asked if they had recommendations for a spicy soupy sauce and the man who usually takes the orders looked at my skin color and told me ‘We don’t have any indian spicy curries’ and I asked him why he had assumed that I was looking for Indian curries in a Japanese, Cantonese, Filipino and Greek restaurant? Indians are not illiterate or blind. We are perfectly capable of reading the menu and understanding the cuisine. I am so fed up of racism in this country and how SERVICE PROVIDERS like restaurants now have the audacity to be RACIST! After I told the guy that he was wrong to assume that I was looking for an Indian curry in his restaurant, he started to explain why he assumed that and providing reasons of Indians who come asking for ‘Pakoras’ as if all Indians don’t eat any other cuisine!
Pathetic! Absolutely shameless. Specifically worse because this restaurant is run by Asian people themselves!
First visit: They have a great variety of food and all are prepared fresh and tastes amazing! However, I feel that they lack the authentic taste in some of their cuisine (Chinese, Japanese) when I compare it to other places but that’s just my personal preference. Overall, the food...
