I booked a table 7 weeks in advance for my brother's 20th birthday. I had asked for a really nice table (not knowing the layout of the restaurant) and when we arrived we were put on high stools in the centre of the restaurant (small table, not relaxed and the nicest tables were clearly by the window). Seeing the people were leaving at the window seats I asked if we could move there and were told not as that table had been requested. A few minutes later we were told they had moved some things around and we could at the window there which was a relief and really appreciated. The waitress who first greeted us was quite cold and rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed at me asking if we could move table. Everyone after was extremely lovely and nice but it still felt a little awkward that we'd asked to move. The food was incredible as was the atmosphere! A little disappointed that booking this far in advance didn't seem to have an impact on table selection without any acknowledgement either. It was a really important evening for us so it was dampened a little by...
Read moreOrdered 6 tapas dishes. Pulpo was excellent and we really enjoyed the croquettes. The service was a huge let down though. After receiving our food service stopped. We were left with empty glasses and dirty plates for more than half an hour before we eventually asked for the bill. There was no table check after we started eating. Nothing.
This was a Sunday and we were there from 4 till 5. There were at least 6 or 7 people working front of house. It very much felt like they were actively avoiding eye contact. Very weird. There was literally enough staff for them to work 1 table each for the whole time we were there. And even when leaving after nobody came to take payment one of them opted to clear an empty table rather than speak to us or take payment.
Food was fine but not the best tapas in Edinburgh, which it should be at the price, and seriously let down by the service unfortunately. I find the 5 star reviews for this place...
Read moreWe're Catalan so we are used to Spanish food and it was an overall good experience. The price is in line with the UK hospitality standard.
As we are vegetarian we got: -Mushroom croquetas: creamy and quite enjoyable. We'd love a bit more mushroom punch. -Tortilla de patatas: served runny. We then asked to cook it well, they were helpful. Not wow-ing, OK to Spanish standards. -Pà amb tomàquet: excessive on tomato but still enjoyable. -Patatas bravas: the best dish for us. We've asked the sauces on the side. Every bar has their own version and we found them spot on -Churros: well cooked, crispy but not dry
We were happy to go as they are pet friendly. The space is lavish and well-decorated. If you are a wine and/or cheese lover is your...
