After having a quick lunch at Montpelier Edinburgh I felt like I couldn't go without writing a review. P.S. don't take it personal, use this to improve the services. As, a local in Bruntsfield I do like to explore the cuisines near by and this wasn't my first trip to Montpelier, yet the least successful. I was quite hungry today and decided to visit your restaurant as it's close and convenient. Me and my partner managed to get a table, and I got to say the point from entrance to the table was smooth. We were acknowledged quickly, with smiles, we were shown our table and served with cold water. That's perfect, couldn't ask for more at this point. Since me and my partner were with specific goal in mind, i.e. get some delicious burgers we made an order with one of the waitress quite promptly. The waitress, Lucy, took our order and everything was great. Not too long after, we received our Aberdeen Angus beef burgers with shoestring fries. (At this point, I regret not taking pictures would have helped for those who are visual readers). The burger presentation was acceptable, nothing too special but at the same time I wasn't expecting Michelin star presentation, that's not to say that you shouldn't deliver appetising food. The fries, that you claim to be shoestring were quite disappointing, definitely not the shoestring fries I was anticipating (after numerous trips to other restaurants with similar fries I had some sort of standard, in fact I would recommend trying chop house, down the corner, shoestring fries - you'll be amazed), what I received was just normal french fries and it pains me to say it but even Mcdonalds fries look better. Ok, back to the burger. The first bite, disappointment, the meat was dry, the bacon was so dry it hurt. If there wasn't any relish on the side that I could have poured over the burger to make it more moist I would have refused it and returned it immediately. At this point, due to my hunger I decided to suck it up and eat it because the time that we had the table was limited, remaking the burger at this point seemed pointless and going for a different restaurant would have taken more time and energy which I didn't have. It really is a shame to deliver Aberdeen Angus Beef on such a mediocre and average dish. (Perhaps it was a genuine mistake by the chef, who was too busy to quality check everything, I don't know, but hearing the very same comments from my partner makes me think that you guys did a sloppy job). The thing is, I wouldn't even be writing this long feedback if Lucy, our waitress would have checked in with us or asked about the food or in fact our experience at the point I was paying the bill. Was slightly appalled by this, as even in busiest restaurants, the staff come and do the 'check in' about the experiences as this is the perfect way to learn and improve upon. Also, other observation, French restaurant, full on Scottish tunes, somewhat doesn't go hand in hand, where is the authenticity guys?? Anyhow, I hope you use this feedback well. Regardless whether you deliver French cuisine or Japanese, if you're selling burgers make sure you deliver and aim for a higher standard which right now is really just average. Also, check in with people, it's a perfect time to express their thoughts verbally on the spot than writing long essays on facebook for hundreds to read. Also, I wanted to attach a picture of shoestring fries, that are thin and crispy.

⭐️⭐️2 COURSES FOR £15!!⭐️⭐️ There's no excuse to not eat out! This is a Belly Busting Bargain that's unbeatable in the Burgh! 'Dine Out Eat Well, Dine Out Eat Indulgent' runs Monday to Friday, throughout March at Montpeliers Bar & Brasserie, Rabble Taphouse & Grill, Tigerlily Edinburgh and Indigo Yard Lunch costs £10 for a main course and dinner is £15 which includes a starter and a main. The dinner menu is limited to a 4/4 menu and all nice options. We tucked into 🐟Smoked Mackerel Pate with rhubarb and ginger chutney and crisp breads. Very tasty. 🧀Roast Butternut Squash and Mozzarella Arancini. Decent starter. 🥩 Thin cut 28 day aged rump steak frites with Diane sauce. Steak was seared and well seasoned. Sauce a little on the thin side but tasty too. 🦪 Thai Green Curry Steamed Shetland Mussels with flat bread and fries. Quite a spice hit with a mixture of textures from the Mussels. Good dunking sauce for the fries and flat bread. Not included in the offer but worth the additional cost is 🧀 the Mac n Cheese. Although not gooey with cheese strings, it's very rich n creamy 🧅onion rings. Crunchy and crispy in all the right places With this deal available at all 4 restaurants across the city centre, you really can treat yourself this March! Montpeliers has undergone a refurb and refresh and its lovely. very Parisien style. Staff are superb, very friendly and so good at upselling. Busy spot so make sure you book!

Being in Edinburgh for the first time, we relied heavily on our B&B host's dinner spot recommendations. When asked where he would eat if he had to choose one, he named Montpelliers. We had no reservation for dinner and where there around 6pm on a Tuesday. With that being said we got lucky to be seated, so I highly recommend calling and making a reservation in advance even during the week. They have a nice selection of Scottish dishes with a twist, burgers, fish and chips and salads. As you can see in the attached photos, we had fish and chips and curried salmon on lentils - both were delicious. The dessert, toffee pudding, was out of this world delicious!! It gets quite crowded, so if you expect an intimate dinner atmosphere, this might not be the place for you. It attracts a trendy crowd and is fully booked almost every day. The servers are young, friendly but a little hasty and forgetful. We were asked if we wanted a bottle of water and responded with yes and received it after we had eaten our dessert. He also forgot to send my husbands dessert order to the kitchen. He apologized and reordered it again for us. This is why I am giving 4 and not 5 stars, because the servers could be a little more attentive. All in all great food and location, so check ot out! :)

It would seem this place has gone rapidly down hill... Visited on Sunday for brunch with three friends for a Full monty breakfast and we were absolutely appalled at the attitude from all most every single member off staff. Out of I would say 8 members off staff only one waitress was pleasant and to be fair to her she really was lovely but not enough to save the day for the rest of them or the cold terrible food. We waited around 15 to 20 minutes longer for our table than we should have and then an hour for our food to arrive freezing cold. When asking how long much longer our table would be we were hit with "eh it's only one minute past your reservation time give us a chance" by the rude host at the door (it was 2.16pm & the table was booked for 2pm). When our food eventually arrived an hour later it was freezing so we had to send it back we waited a further 20 minutes to have this replaced only for it to arrive cold AGAIN. The bacon on the plate was only fat so we asked if we could have some actual bacon which seemed like such a hassle. In the end we decided that we did not wish to eat our cold food surrounded in misery from terrible waiters so we just asked for them to take it away. The manager came to the table told us he found it was hard to believe that the food could be cold a second time and aggressively whipped the plates from the table there was no apology, no explanation and no offer of anything else we were just left sitting there wondering what was going on. We did not pay for anything and we will not be back.

To the one lovely waitress who did serve us - thank you for smiling and being lovely this is not a...

I only reeeeally write reviews when I'm seriously wowed/disappointed by a place, so keep that in mind.

I cannot fault the service - staff are incredible, quick, friendly and all round excellent. As someone who has worked part-time in hospitality for around 5 years now, I know how demanding the job can be, and the service was impeccable - thank you.

As a student who's rarely in town & an Edinburgh local, I generally know the best spots to eat around...Montpeliers is not one of them.

It would be justified if the price reflected the quality, however...... I really paid £12.95 for a toastie....a literal toastie..not dissimilar to the low budget toasties I eat on the regular. In actuality, my housemate makes better toasties when he's blind drunk after a night out. I'm not hard to please but I reeeeally expected something which would perhaps reflect the price - ciabatta, sourdough, anything..nothing glam, just perhaps not sliced bread. a meagre handful of salad and some depressed looking pre- frozen fries didn't lift my spirits further. I honestly could equate it with what weatherspoons food is like....weatherspoons food with a MASSIVE price increase. Honestly makes me tear up thinking about the price vs the food, my god... I should have eaten at home. :(

also if you're going to market yourself on your brunch options PLEASE PLEASE get better quality coffee. PLEASE!!!!!!! I felt like I'd just consumed an instant machine coffee from a gas station on the M25 at 3:15pm on a rainy day. those were the...
