It’s so rare I find a coffee shop with a solid 5 star rating on google, so I had to try Platform 41 yesterday while my partner and I were staying in Edinburgh for a couple of nights. Now I understand the 5 stars; I’d give it ten if I could!

From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the owner, Stephen, who made us feel so welcomed and at home. The coffee blend is insanely good (as good as any we’ve had in Italy, and we are fussy with coffee!) that we had to buy a bag to take home. The chocolate chai drink is gorgeous and highly recommended! The drinks were flawless and the cakes we ordered were kindly cut in half and arranged for us with care so we could share. It was so good we stopped by again this morning for more coffee and cake, and decided to also have two Panini which were so fresh and moreish! The produce is chosen with care, and it shows. The prices are also very good for the quality.

I can’t recommend Platform 41 enough; it’s so clear that Stephen really cares for his clientele, taking time to get to know them by name and make everyone’s experience nothing short of perfect. Thank you so much for giving us a go-to breakfast/lunch spot next time we’re in Edinburgh! :)

(Gracie & Alex - thanks for trying to chase us down with the Empire biscuit we left behind. It was...

I'm currently visiting Edinburgh (Scotland, in fact) for the first time and I visited this small coffee shop yesterday, based on the tremendous reviews on Google. Was a little wary because I read people saying it can get quite busy and I'll take a relaxing coffee over a good coffee any day. Fortunately though, I received both!

Apparently, I had totally missed the morning rush (I was there from about 9:30-11, I think?) And ended up having the whole place to myself, the majority of the time I was in there. The Latte was excellent. The milk was silky and, though I'm not exactly a coffee connoisseur, it was certainly the best I've had. The Scrambled Eggs And Cheese on Ciabatta was delicious too. They had Blues playing in the background too! Just a lovely atmosphere, all round.

I had a good chat with the guys working (My goldfish-like memory might trip me up here but I think their names were Stephen and Francesco) and even got some recommendations for places to visit.

Some of the Sandwiches on the menu sounded delicious and it was such a relaxing and fun visit that I'm going again in an hour or so, I think to try a couple of the Sandwiches. Haha.

Highly highly recommend this little café, even if it's just to grab a...

As an Australian traveling around the UK I cannot recommend Platform 41 enough.

The coffee here is just as good, if not better, than the coffee that is served back home. The bean they use is incredibly smooth on the pallete, never bitter with notes of chocolate. This is hands down the best cuppa you'll find in Edinburgh, but that's not all.

The food is incredibly generous with it's portion size and taste divine. From the scrambled eggs to their paninis you really cannot go wrong. Not to mention that much like their coffee, the food is also incredibly affordable and reasonably priced for what you get.

The cherry on top of all of this is the amazing staff that work here. The moment you walk through the door they are nothing but friendly and welcoming. They really make you feel like family, I could spend hours just chatting with Michael, Stephen and Sammy.

All in all, this should be your go to cafe whether your traveling to Edinburgh or live in the city. The coffee is in a league of its own and the staff make every visit a delight. Not to mention at a...

So we stumbled upon this place trying to find luggage storage and the worker was so friendly and welcoming that we came back after storing our suitcases. We were followed by good conversation and better food! And incredible time! Then, we ended up going back on our last day because of how much we loved it. We stood outside deciding whether to go inside or take out because we had our big suitcases with us when the owner came outside to greet us asking about how our trip up north was. Then he insisted we came in and ate even though our suitcases would take up valuable floor space during the lunch rush. The food is incredible and the service is dare I say the best I’ve ever had in any establishment ever, I’m serious. A perfect little stop whenever you are in Edinburgh. The Italian Hot and Mediterranean were incredible as well as great coffee. But stop by just for the workers they are second to none in making you feel welcome after your long weary travels.
