The food is good, but I have never been treated soo bad in my life by the (chubby) woman (it’s just a reference so you know when you see her to ask for someone else) I asked for tea, she forgot twice but didn’t mind I wasn’t feeling great during the meal so I asked for a takeaway box to eat it at home as I left the whole plate, she brought the takeaway box (tiny) and my friend kindly asked if they could do it bc we were going to drop all the liquid from the ramen I am not an expert with a tiny spoon and chopsticks to put it in the container by my own specially felling unwell and very dizzy I was trying to explain it nicely to the waiter and before In the middle of me explaining it she jumped in from the other side shouted rudely “we can’t, we are not allowed to put your food for you” in a super rude and loud tone (at least talk nice to people, avoiding putting faces and bad tones, she shouldn’t pay her bad day with customers) she left straight after I said it was fine and went to try and force my self to eat even tho I didn’t feel well, only because i was going to pay for it and I hate wasting food. NOT EVEN 2 min after she brings the bill WITHOUT ASKING FOR IT while I was eating (i literally had the chicken in my mouth) and say how are you paying? THAT’S ALL NOT even a “here is the bill” Or a “did you finish?”or “Would you like dessert or the bill?”. It’s genuinely unbelievable all me and my friends were so discontent (they all wanted dessert but by the way we were treated we paid I DID NOT EAT MY plate as I felt bad and mistreated by the WORST waitress you can imagine and left) I genuinely have no words to describe how bad the her service was. I genuinely think she needs to get fired. Kind regards (not for her tho). This is also the first time I have ever complained in a restaurant about anything but she is...

Was actually excited for this as I'd visited other chains before but this one was a little lack luster. Felt cramped with the seating as we were sat right next to the door and people were often forced to squeeze past and apologise every 5 minutes trying to get in and out. So first of all for drinks I ordered a beer from the page which depicted a pint glass full and didn't give any specified sizes for the drink on the page so I assumed what you see is what you get right? Unfortunately not it turns out the beers were only served in 330ml bottles but brought a pint glass to the table and just over half full. Most restaurants I expect to have high prices for drinks these days but this seemed like flat out false advertising when they show a picture of a full size pint and no other measures it's kind of what you expect. The first started I shared a red Tuna Nigiri but the fish was so stale that it had started to oxidised and turn brown on the ends like it had been sat out for a very long time before serving. The char sui pork in the bowl was quite dry and overly seasoned with ginger, I did still enjoy it but it just doesn't match the flavour of the other store across the road. Something in the dish as well looked oxidised like it had been sitting on the surface of the ramen for a while and left exposed to the air again. This was also around 5pm or just after so not when the store was too busy or anything. Otherwise it was fairly good just a little lacking compared to what I expected, my partner also...

First of all, service of seating was alright.

We ordered two Hell Ramen and today special sushi set. The sushi was good. Well presented and taste delicious.

However, both Hell Ramen were way below standard. We come to St James Maki Ramen and other branches very often. So it is not the first time we had Hell Ramen from Maki and Ramen. This visit today at St James was totallu dissapointed. First, the broth on both bowls were half of the volume we used to have. Second, the broth were thick, sticky and very salty. It felt like the broth were concetrated than the normal broth. Besides, chasui has been almsot 30% smaller (diameter wise) than what it used to. Plus it is tasteless, we didn't taste pork at all. Then, it comes to the eggs. It is fully cooked, no runny at all, and they served a broken one on one of the bowl ( the egg white was apart in pieces). Overall the ramen quality has been dropped badly from it used to be.

Please review the execution quality of St James branch.

Last but not leaat, the music was odd. It is Japanese restaurant. Even though Japnese music is not neccessary, but not those strong beat clubbing music. It made me headache sitting in the restaurant during the short 45...

Maki & Ramen in Edinburgh is an absolute culinary delight for our family! 🍣🍜 The moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a vibrant and cozy atmosphere that set the stage for an amazing dining experience. The decor is modern and inviting, perfect for enjoying delicious Japanese cuisine. 🏮✨ The menu is a feast for the senses, offering a wide variety of sushi, ramen, and other Japanese specialties. 🍤🍱 The kids were thrilled with the colorful and creative sushi rolls, while my wife and I savored the rich, flavorful ramen bowls. Each dish is beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. What makes Maki & Ramen truly special is the attention to detail and the use of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The staff are friendly and attentive, making sure every aspect of our meal was perfect. 🍣👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Our visit to Maki & Ramen was more than just a meal; it was an experience that left us with wonderful memories. Maki Ramen isn't just a restaurant; it's a vibrant immersion into the heart of authentic Japanese culinary artistry. While their ramen is undeniably the star, boasting a broth so rich and deeply flavorful it's practically a revelation with every spoonful, their commitment to a diverse Japanese menu truly shines. From delicate and expertly prepared sushi and sashimi, showcasing the freshest ingredients, to flavorful donburi rice bowls and satisfying yakisoba noodle dishes, there's a delightful exploration of Japanese tastes beyond just ramen. What elevates the experience even further is the truly amazing staff. Their warm welcome and genuine enthusiasm create an inviting and comfortable atmosphere from the moment you step inside. They are knowledgeable about the menu, happy to offer recommendations, and provide service that is both efficient and incredibly friendly, making you feel like a valued guest. Maki Ramen offers not just exceptional food, but a complete and delightful dining experience, making it a truly deserving five-star destination.

Food: 10/10 Price: 10/10 Staff: 9/10 Authentic Japanese experience: 8/10 Having lived in Japan previously, I have yet to find a place other than Maki and Ramen that does authentic Tonkotsu Ramen. The time and effort that goes into each bowl, flavour and presentation-wise really shines through. If you want to try PROPER ramen, please stop by any of their establishments because you won’t be disappointed. Their side dishes, the gyoza, takoyaki and more are all delicious as well and definitely worth trying. Only recently have I tried their sushi and by far my most favourite is the grilled salmon nigiri. It was something I ate almost every day whilst living in Japan so it’s something I love to eat when I’m here too. Another I highly recommend is the soft shelled crab roll. Definitely a second favourite in my sushi list! The staff greet you in a traditional Japanese manner when entering the restaurant and you are well looked after whilst dining in. Everyone is super nice and the food is amazing. Highly recommended!
