I recently visited a fish and chips place located in a prime location, and I have to say that my experience was quite underwhelming. The lack of atmosphere was evident right from the moment I stepped in. The place felt dull and uninspiring, which greatly affected my overall dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered the fish and chips, expecting a classic and satisfying meal. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed. The fish was coated in a beer batter, but it lacked flavor and freshness. It felt like it had been sitting for a while, which was disappointing considering the location of the restaurant.

As for the chips, they were quite greasy and oily. They lacked the crispy exterior and fluffy interior that make for a great serving of chips. Instead, I was left with a heavy and unappetizing side dish that didn't complement the fish well at all.

Overall, I found the fish and chips place to be a boring dining option. Despite its prime location, the lack of atmosphere, coupled with the mediocre quality of the food, made for a less than enjoyable experience. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback into consideration and works on improving both the ambiance and the quality of their dishes to provide a more satisfying dining experience for...

At first the owner seemed a bit closed off but I just thought that maybe it was a language barrier issue, so I didn’t think much about it. Later we were all sitting on the table having a chat. However my dad wanted another tea bag as he wanted his tea to be stronger (Indian dads) and we paid for it everything was sorted. Later my brother was looking for something in his bag and he took out his water bottle to look for something else. The owner came and was very rude and told us off. We told him we are travelling the whole day that is why we have this bottle but he was still very rude. I respect all rules, I have been in the UK for four years and know how things work here. Later on we found out from other people that he is a bit racist. However I don’t want to put on such a serious allegation on anyone but I will say I felt uncomfortable. He was constantly talking on his phone and going in and out of his shop. Before I was leaving I was booking my uber but he asked me in a cery stern tone if “I am writing a review”, which I did not appreciate and hence writing this here now. Portebello Bistro cafe, the hot chocolate was good but your attitude was extremely rude. You can’t pass by bad service in the name of beach...

F… this place! I wish I read the reviews before embarking on this awful experience. £6.50 for a scoop of ice cream and a cup of tea. At first I asked to take away as we just went in to use the loo on the Christmas Day. The ambient wasn’t bad I have to admit and there were plenty of tables so I asked if we could sit down for a bit. So he quickly changed the price from £3 to £6.50. Then I tried my tea and it was too sweet; I asked for two sugar, but he probably put two tablespoons of sugar instead. He said all he could do was to add some water. They don’t have a clue on how to deal with customers, honestly, they are from a different world. On top of that, there was also this bigoted woman( also from a different world) with her kids and poor husband going around the place spreading nastiness and ugliness on a Christmas Day. This woman was so rude to my child and myself as she passed by that I nearly exploded in anger and the only thing that prevented me from doing so was that it was Christmas. Don’t come back saying I haven’t...

I visited the Bistro for breakfast with some friends. The service was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. The coffee was also enjoyable. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite so tasty. The pancakes were quite dry, the bacon fat wasn't rendered and the maple syrup didn't taste like 100% pure maple syrup, but more like a cheaper mix. However, the prices were reasonable, it is a lovely location and everything else about the cafe was enjoyable.
