As a Chinese person, I'm quite pernickety about 'authentic' Chinese food. I've found it quite difficult to really give my seal of approval for a lot of Chinese takeaway and sit-in restaurants around Edinburgh, only because dishes have been changed so much to suit local preferences. Red Box is one place that since I was recommended by a friend to try it out, I absolutely love to visit to satisfy my Asian food cravings and often recommend friends to go here.
When you walk through the door, you peruse the menu wall on the left side and choose your noodle, meat (optional), vegetables, sauce and any condiments. Their starters are as good as the noodles- on my last visit I sampled their salt and chilli squid and it's the best I've had in a long time.
The service is always friendly and fast and it's a great place to grab a good bite to eat if you're short on time. It's my favourite place to grab food on the run during the August Festival although it does get very busy during this time so you might have to wait a little longer. It is...
