I've been coming to peartree for years, especially in the summer and especially for sport.

Extremely disappointed by the treatment of our group by staff today, especially the duty manager. We had arranged by email to watch the Women's Football for the Olympics, and "Brian" confirmed all set to go at 6pm on the 31st. We arrived, and witnessed another group request to put a different sport on. They switched over no trouble.

We spoke with the Duty Manager, showed them the email, and she was incredibly rude and dismissive saying that she didn't have record of that, people asked for the gymnastics, and even argued that the women's football wasn't even on. I showed her the email, she said the would speak with "Brian" and nothing happened. We followed up several times and were rudely told they didn't have record, refused to acknowledge the email, and refused to put the football on.

With most of us having intense retail or hospo experience we were kind but firm about our request, and were met by rudeness and disrespect by the Duty Manager.

Some serious training needs to be given to anyone there who would like to call themselves supervisor or duty manager, as the treatment to our group was outrageous. Sad that the reputation and our love of this pub can be tarnished by a couple people's poor planning...

Was in the city with a friend and of course as covid restrictions have lifted and the festival is now on it was pretty busy everywhere. We walked around a little and then decided to stop in here and it was petty good overall! A lovely big beer garden with a good amount of seating meant we could sit outside and enjoy the nice weather/ feel a bit safer in the fresh air. You can order from your table using a pretty simple app and everything is brought out to you! We eventually ordered some food too and it was brought out all boxed up which made it easy to eat and clean up after. The food was really hot and nice enough for a pub meal! The prices weren't too expensive either for what we had- the food and drink were both decently priced. Overall a good place for a drink & dinner in a nice, safe setting! The only thing that could have made it better is maybe a few more staff members being around outside as if you needed to get anything or ask for extras you had to go into the building to the bar a lot (for extra cutlery, sauces, napkins etc) and the wait time was slightly long so if you are heading to a fringe show or anything after, order as soon as you sit down to give...

The Peartree, fairly central standard old-style pub but with a difference; it has a huge beer garden! Well, not so much garden, just rows and rows of picnic benches with a (Ivy?) bush growing up the building wall. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't visit this pub unless it had said garden. It's good for the summer time weekend lazing, sipping on a cider and watching some festival gigs on their mini stage in the corner.

Inside there is a big bar in the middle which means there is a nowhere for the bar tender to hide! I had a red wine last time I was here, it was very warm (which is how I like my red wine, although maybe not everyones preferred temperature?) They keep their wine stock near the bar lights and it absorbs the heat, which is a nice touch, whether it was intentional or not!

They have a big screen for games and a few comfy leather couches dotted around. Toilets are basic and dated, but they serve their function. Pretty small bar inside really but it's friendly and...

Great pub and atsmosphere to watch the rugby, shame about incompetent management, had a table from 1pm to watch 4 games of rugby , last game being 8pm, at 6pm we were given a notice to say our table was reserved at 8pm, which was the main game of the day, after questioning why we were asked to move when we have been here all-day we were pretty much Told we have to find another seat in a fully packed pub, if given the chance We would of sat in an unreserved seat and enjoyed the day , really disappointed as pear tree was happy take our money for 5hours but happily shaft us towards the end of the night , staff were amazing but management needs there heads checked and a serious think about customer loyalty. A simple question to management about our situation was quickly brushed off as not there issue and now we have to find a new venue at 7pm on a Saturday night

Nice-looking pub with a very generous outdoor area. Let down by the grumpy staff and poor food. We were charged £9 for a toastie, which was served in a cardboard container (we were sitting inside), with no side salad or chips. We were told they were "busy" despite being the only people in the back sitting area; outside was also fairly quiet. £12 for mac and cheese with no garlic bread (as mentioned on the menu), also served in a cardboard box. I ordered fries, but they never arrived. I honestly feel like this was the worst pub meal I have ever had. Not helped by the staff looking and acting like they wanted to be anywhere else. Worth a visit for a drink on a sunny day, just avoid the food.
