What a place! Decided to dine here with my wife last weekend. The restaurant is immaculate and very modern. We went Sunday evening so it wasn’t that busy. The service was superb and the highlight of our experience! A massive shout out to Afzal who served us. He was welcoming, helpful and an overall good guy! He made sure we were well looked after. They have focus on quality customer service which is excellent to see as often restaurants lack this. My wife and I are non beviers so our eyes light up to see the drinks menu was alcohol free. I’ve never seen so many non-alcoholic beverages from mocktails to shots and everything in between was alcohol free. My wife got an amaretto sour and I got a raspberry fizz (recommendation from big Afzal). Both of these drinks were very tasty and looked great. We would of had a few more if they weren’t so expensive. Charging alcohol prices for nonalcoholic drinks. For food for we got the Kusbasili Pide, with complimentary balloon bread, olives and walnut spread. The Kusbasili Pide was very good and surprisingly big. We both thought it was delicious. There was a good ratio of meat to bread. I am not usually a fan of olives but I liked these ones. The walnut spread was ok. The balloon bread was fine but glad it was a freebie as we didn’t think it was anything special. We also got a couple of complimentary Turkish teas which were not bad. For mains we got the 2 person mixed grill platter. This could easily serve 3/4 normal people but thankfully I am not normal. The mix platter had pretty much all the meats and a little bit of salad pita, rice and corn on the cob. The platter was served on what was like a golden heated metal basket. It was very luxurious. Excellent presentation. The food itself was good. The meat was cooked pretty well, although I felt the flavours of all the meats merged into one and I couldn’t distinguish them. Perhaps that’s because of my untrained mixed grill palate. The rice was quite sticky and the pita was nice. We decided to get the demi glaze, peppercorn and mushroom gravies. All of which were good and there was a substantial portion of each. We were very full after the mains but there is always room for dessert. My wife got the Baklava and I got the Kunefe. Again, both of which had excellent presentation. The baklava was very tasty but the Kunefe was excellent. I liked the texture of the centre. You wouldn’t believe there was cheese in it. It was very indulgent. Overall the bill came to over £140 which we thought was a little expensive. We know we got a lot of food but we didn’t think it would be that much. We can’t dispute that the quality was there and the food we got could’ve served up to 4 people so maybe the price is reasonable. We’ll for sure be back to try some of the other dishes because they look awesome. Love this place!

I recently dined at this elegant Turkish restaurant, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience. The food surpassed all my expectations and has easily become the best Turkish I've ever tasted. The flavors were exquisite, and dessert - kunafe, a true delight for the taste buds. The restaurant exudes a high-end atmosphere, perfect for a fine dining experience. Despite its sophistication, it also caters to families, making it a great choice for various occasions. The ambiance was inviting and created a welcoming environment for all guests. One aspect that truly impressed me was the excellent service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of and that my dining experience was impeccable. From their attentive nature to their extensive knowledge of the menu, the service added an extra touch of luxury to the overall experience. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend this Turkish restaurant for those seeking an unforgettable fine dining experience in Edinburgh. The outstanding food, combined with its family-friendly atmosphere and excellent service, make it a must-visit destination.

Restaurant Name: Shish Address: 32 Potterrow, Edinburgh EH8 9BT Category: True Turkish Culinary Average Review: 4.3 ( Google, Facebook and Tripadvisor) Menu: https://shishrestaurant.co.uk/storage/2023/09/Shish-Edinburgh-Food-Menu.pdf Meat: Halal

A Royal Feast at Shish, Edinburgh: A Review

Our visit to Shish was an experience reminiscent of a posh restaurant in Dubai, thanks to its stunning interior that combines navy blue with golden accents. This choice of color scheme instantly elevates the ambiance, making you feel like you've stepped into an exquisite dining space far from the cobblestone streets of Scotland.

Our party consisted of six adults and four children, a sizable group that often poses a challenge for many establishments. However, Shish welcomed us with open arms, accommodating us comfortably and ensuring our dining experience was seamless from start to finish.

The Culinary Highlight: Mix Grill for 6 (5 out of 5)

Opting for the Mix Grill for 6, we found it to be more than sufficient for our group, including the little ones. As someone who has a particular fondness for mixed grills, I approached this dish with high expectations, and I'm delighted to say they were not only met but exceeded. The mixed grill at Shish showcased a variety of meats, each cooked to perfection, offering a symphony of flavours and textures that delighted our palates. The quality of the ingredients and the skilful preparation made it clear that this dish was crafted with passion and expertise.

A Sip on the Side: Mocktails ( 5 out of 3.5)

Alongside our main course, we decided to order mocktails for the table. These beverages were average, lacking the same wow factor that the mixed grill provided. While they were refreshing and complemented the meal, there was room for improvement in terms of flavour complexity and presentation. Nonetheless, they did not detract from the overall dining experience.

Overall Impression

Our time at Shish in Edinburgh was nothing short of spectacular. The restaurant's enchanting interior sets the stage for a memorable dining experience, while the impeccable service and delectable cuisine ensure it delivers. The mixed grill, in particular, stands out as a testament to the kitchen's prowess, making it a must-try for anyone visiting.

I wholeheartedly recommend Shish to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Edinburgh. Whether you're a local or a tourist, a visit to Shish promises not just a meal, but a culinary journey that transports you to a world of sophisticated flavours and luxurious dining. Don't miss the chance to indulge in what can only be described as a royal feast at Shish. Thanks Desi Tracker ( Facebook...
