This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend, and visited it on Sunday the 22 June, with my daughter, the staff were very friendly and the lady in charge of the service was brilliant, we thought we were in a normal Chinese restaurant and ordered like normal, but that was our mistake, we were rushing to eat our food, ( which was excellent) but everyone else was chatting and taking their time, I know realise we should have taken our time and read the menu , and ordered more side dishes, and asked the waitress about all the different dishes on the menu, The spare ribs were amazing, to the extent that we were eating the onions and and garlic, that were underneath the ribs , And one last thing the owner was very attentive, too We will be back very soon
I have to mention one last thing, when I asked if they do a student discount 🤣 he asked my daughter which university she went too and she said Stirling, he looked at her and said ohh ,her face was a picture and I was laughing...
Read moreSan Chuan in Potterow, Edinburgh, holds a special place as our favorite Chinese restaurant. It consistently delivers authentic flavors and boasts an exquisite variety of dishes that leave us satisfied 98% of the time. However, on this occasion, I decided to try the sesame prawn toast (£12), and I must say, I found it rather disappointing. In summary, San Chuan remains a fantastic choice for authentic Chinese cuisine in Edinburgh. While the sesame prawn toast fell short of expectations in terms of value for money, the overall experience and the other menu options make it a dining destination worth...

I'd have talked to the staff about it, but despite some initial speed and enthusiasm, they all disappeared and never came back to our table. It's really sad to say, but I'd suggest getting noodles for £6.50 from a roadside stall is probably preferable to spending 2-3 times as much here. ...
