This place came well recommended by a friend and I was here for a (very) late lunch with 3 others on a Sunday. The place was well decorated, trendy, upbeat. Reasonably clean as long as you don't look too deeply.
I tried their veggie wild mushrooms pizza. The concept was brilliant, and mostly it was bursting with flavours that felt authentic to the ingredients. It didn't take long to arrive, and I did wonder if it was rushed, as regrettably the burnt bits were really burnt, leaving behind an unpleasant after taste for a few hours.
Do note that not all their pizzas come with a tomato base, please refer to the ingredients listed on the menu.
I was suprised one of my friends could tell they do tiramisus without it being listed on the main menu, it looked alright.
Disabled restroom available with baby changing facilities, but it wasn't the cleanest by far.
Service was engaging, personable (depending on who was serving you), and almost too much.
I wouldn't say no if I was dragged here again, but unfortunately I won't be passing on the...
Read moreRelative newcomer to Leith Walk serving Neapolitan-style pizzas from the folks who used to own the much celebrated Pizzeria 1926 in Dalry. The menu is great, offering a wide range of interesting toppings. I had the funghi 2.0 (£11.50) which was, as the name suggests, mushrooms with Cumberland sausage, Stilton, parmesan and thyme. It was brimming cheese with both varieties identifiable and generously topped with mushrooms and sausage (I omitted the chestnuts). My partner had the fritta (£10.50) which was filled with tomato sugo, salami and tons of stretchy mozzarella and championed by our waiter - delish. Only negative was that it wasn't all the hot. The tiramisu was excellent and I had a good affogato with an amaretto shot to end. Staff were really cheerful and knew the menu well. The wine (Aglianico) was decent and priced well at £15 for a 500ml carafe. A lot of excellent competition for pizza around the Foot of the Walk with Razzo and Origano but they're all different...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBest pizza in Edinburgh? Possibly! I had a delicious dinner at San Ciroās last night, and relived the experience for lunch today when I reheated the leftovers.
Our group of four started with the misto, which was a selection of their arancini, plus one other fritter-like object. All were very distinct in flavour and delicious - a great way to try the arancini without committing. We each got our own pizza - one meatball, one weekly special (which involved ham and American mustard), one white pizza with mushrooms, and my partner had their calzone. These all had nicer Italian names that regretfully I cannot remember! All were devoured heartily (except my white mushroom, which I happily enjoyed the leftovers of today). Our waiter was very warm and enthusiastic, which I always appreciate.
My only request would be more options for wine by the glass, but I would recommend this to anyone looking for great...
