Coffee and cake is good but coffee and cake surrounded by plants is great. Furthermore, the staff here are always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Tip: Friday 13th, May 22 saw a new menu introduced
I've never had a bad lunch and, more importantly, never bought a bad plant. The latter is more important because you don't want to introduce infection or bugs to your home. The plant selection here is pretty good and absolutely healthy.
I'd suggest that three are house plants, perhaps not garden plants you'd get from a garden center. That suits me, though, as I'm happy to sling a plant filled bag over my shoulder and walk home. We're talking about those size of living green things.
Tip: You can get herbal and even bubble tea here
I'm a fan of the coffee, but come for the baking. It's good value at less than £4 for a slice.
There are also breakfast and lunch options with salads, ciabatta and sourdough. Fittingly for a room filled with plants, there's a vegan plant-based section too.
Perhaps an understated perk of the Brunch Room is the table spacing. While the cafe can get busy, it doesn't get crowded, as there's plenty of room between people.
Escape the hustle of Leith Walk, pop inside.

(Non)Vegan Yin toastie, 8/10, we had ours with real bacon (at no extra cost I might add!), nothing super fancy, just good fundamentals. Side salad was simple but came together to more than the sum of its ingredients. We had one on ciabatta and another on sourdough because they had run out of ciabatta (which they were very apologetic about) but honestly in no way did it detract from the experience. Chewy toasted bread, nice smokey flavour from the cheese.
Tea, 7/10, it's tea and it was hot. Reasonably good.
Chai latte, 7/10, very nice and creamy, sweet without being sickly, lightly spiced (I would have preferred a bit stronger spices, but that's personal preference). Nice presentation.
Overall I really rate this café, the greenery on sale at the front of shop gave it a pleasant vibe and the seating was comfortable. The wait staff were a bit slow at clearing tables which left occasional waves of people crowded in the front standing around waiting, but not overly so. My teacup had a bit of a sticky handle, the resident underwater ceramics technician evidently missed a spot.
But all told, we felt nourished and refreshed and the price was...
Read moreHad been dying to try this cafe for a while, went in today and got two oat iced caramel lattes. The caramel was actually quite disgusting, very chai-y/christmasy and not suited to the iced drinks at all, on top of this the oat milk was filled with chunks, not a few, A LOT. I don’t like complaining but went up to ask knowing it could be an easy fix, the lady working seemed concerned and shook the straw to show the barista and he shrugged it off and handed it back to me. I understand, as as a barista myself, that some oat milk (especially organic) can come out with debri if not shaken or stored properly, which was confirmed when I walked away with my coffee handed back to me when the barista said this to the lady working. But then if all it took to fix the coffee was to give it a shake why not just offer to replace the drink? We walked out with the full coffees left on the table and £9 poorer because the truth is even if I had been offered another one, the problems of the syrup and the not very nice coffee would have persisted. The interior was lovely, just as I’d seen online, but really disappointed by the quality of the drinks we had and the lack of...
