atmosphere... hah! If this food had atmosphere, it would be akin to the crushing hell of Venus or the desolate expanse of the Moon. The "vindaloo" had less flavour than a basic flour roux. The saag aloo had only one thing going for it - it wasn't blended to pieces.
The lamb was at least of good texture and not too tough, which would have been pleasant, had it come in a sauce with any flavour whatsover. The rice was as dry as if it had sat around all night since the beginning of the restaurant opening hours.
Honestly, for this price, I could have gotten a taxi around Edinburgh and found all the best ingredients to cook it myself - especially considering Shapla had failed to put most of them in this dish.
Truly shocking! It arrived luke warm and I think the chef has given up on his profession. I've half of the dish left and I'd be reticent to give it to someone on the street as I'd feel sorry for their experience after.
£20+ pound down the drain, and I could have spent it on a takeaway I've given 2 stars to, for a less regretable...
Read moreAbsolutely horrific experience. We ordered £25 of food from just eats, the wait time was 45 mins. Up until the point of waiting 2 hours we called multiple times to check on our order. The person on the phone was extremely rude, we were repeatedly told our food was 10 minutes away and eventually 5 minutes away. We were hung up on at least twice. We ended up cancelling the order as it never came, when I asked about getting a refund I was told I had to contact just eats who sent me back to the restaurant as it was supposedly delivered. Again talking to the restaurant I was accused of giving the wrong address which I have used multiple times on just eats. This kind of customer service is appalling and I can't believe the disrespect with which their customers are treated. All I can hope is that people know how bad this place is and that I get...
Read moreDisappointing. The worst take-away experience I have ever had in my entire life. When the chap on the counter finally realised I was there and stopped talking to his friends on the phone to serve me, I ordered a paneer (solidified cheese) dish. It arrived in reasonable time. When back at my house to eat I discovered it was just an uninspiring vegetable curry that they just had thrown a handful of grated cheddar over. If a place does not have the things people order on the menu, TELL THE CUSTOMER! Don't try to fob them off with something else - that would avoid disappointment and negative reviews like mine. It is the closest Indian to me but that experience scarred me and I now go to Rivage on Easter Road which is more expensive but completely superb. Plus, you actually get the food you order. I wish I could give...
