a special shout out to the skinny blonde bar wench
Ah, let me tell ye about a wee hidden gem on Easter Road – the Mash Tun. It’s like stumbling into a treasure chest filled with laughter, booze, and enough good vibes to make a grumpy old man dance a jig!
First things first, the drinks! The craft beer selection is so vast it makes the Sahara Desert look like a puddle. They’ve got everything from local brews to exotic pints that’ll make your taste buds do the Highland Fling. Some of the beers are so nice, the locals drink it twice 🤪. And if beer isn’t your thing, the cocktails are like something out of Willy Wonka’s secret stash. You’ll be grinning like a Cheshire cat after just one sip!
Now, let’s talk rum – the selection here is so good, it would make Captain Jack Sparrow jealous. They've got everything from the classics to the adventurous, and the Dead Man’s Fingers rum is an absolute delight. It’s smoother than a silk kilt and packs a punch that’ll warm you from head to toe. If you’re a rum lover, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store!
But what really makes the Mash Tun special is the bar team. They’re friendlier than a Labrador puppy! Special mention to the skinny blonde behind the bar – her smile could light up the darkest night. She’s quicker than a whippet on caffeine and mixes drinks with the finesse of a ballet dancer. And her banter? Top-notch! She's got wit sharper than a thistle and always leaves you laughing. Whether you’re a regular or a newbie, she makes you feel welcome.
The Mash Tun on Easter Road is a shining star in Leith’s pub scene. Whether you’re in for a casual pint or just to soak up the Euro Footballs fantastic atmosphere, this place never disappoints. Five stars? Forget that – the Mash Tun deserves all the stars in the galaxy and then some!
So, get yourself down to the Mash Tun and experience the magic for...
Read moreLovely looking pub , really good atmosphere and fine selection of drinks but what destroyed it for me was a particular member of bar staff a blonde haired girl with glasses who when serving me thought it was a crime for me to have to ask for a glass and ice to pour my bottle of cider into and then unfortunately I was plagued by her again when my fish and chips order was delivered by her non welcoming face - I’m still waiting for my cutlery - she dumped it on the table then strode off- so all in all looked like a great bar - the fish and chips were exceptional albeit I had to eat them with my hands - my son ordered earlier and was given great service from someone else- my cider was a bottle dumped on the bar - so I’d say great food great atmosphere but whoever employed grumpy blonde girl - we’ll i left when otherwise I’d have stayed for the night - if you avoid her I’m sure you’ll have a good night - me I’m now deflated after scotlands historic win over Australia- such a dampener on a great day I opted for a carryout and...

Compared to previous incarnations - this place is a dream. If you'd been to "whatever it was before" and have an impression based on that - go again. You can thank me later :)
Some brilliant whiskeys and wines, staff that know their stuff but aren't pushy about it. They'll bend the rules if you want a J-weed without the stupid glass it comes with, which is a plus in my book.
Gets pretty busy after 5 most days, especially on weekends. And if the football is on then you're not likely to get a seat, but you won't need one as the banter will be top.
2 for 1 pizzas when you buy 2 drinks makes it a super cheap place to eat - but the food doesn't stop there. Their range of homemade cuisine is unrivalled locally - and their christmas menu last year was the best...
