The food is always pretty great, albeit pricey compared to other spots in the city. I usually takeaway but chose to sit in for the first time. There were two other tables busy and when one of them left, the three staff members standing behind the counter began laughing at what the departed customers were talking about and loudly saying that they had been in before and are weird. Not even 2 minutes later, another customer came in and kindly let the staff member know he was given the wrong pastries. The staff gave him the correct order. Again, as soon as he left the staff member began talking about how "stupid" people are and that the man watched her bag the wrong pastries but didn't think to say anything. The staff member then went to the back kitchen and loudly told them how dumb the customer was and they laughed about it.
I've felt that the staff was cold and not very welcoming before, but today's experience has left me with an unfortunate view of the place. I understand that working in hospitality can have its frustrations, but making fun of customers behind the counter at full volume is not...

The breakfast at the ‘Kitchen Table’ really is next level, I frequent cafes around the world and can safely say the quality, taste and atmosphere is great.
I usually go sledge for the breakfast with the home made hash browns - best hash browns I’ve tasted in my decades on the planet earth ! Eek I sound old.
Today I went for the chefs special, Menemen Eggs on sourdough, it was delightful.
Kitchen table is my got to venue for best quality breakfast in Edinburgh.
To add to the quality of the food, the staff serving are lovely - cherry, helpful and accommodating.

I love the fresh sourdough loaves, the wholemeal is the best. £4-£4.50 is pretty high in my opinion, when did bread become the staple of the middle class?
I'd like to see a well made poor mans loaf, at a price point for something you would buy on a daily basis rather than a weekend treat. I can't afford to spend £4 every 2 days on bread!
