The Chippy by Spencer — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I ordered fish and chips via Uber eats as saw a good rating( to be honest like many other places, but after the fish and chips is delivered you start questioning those ratings or sense of their taste buds or simply expectation from a good fish and chips which is such a signatory comfort dish for this region)

I was amazed with the quality, freshness, flavour and crispness of the dish! My husband who is from the South Americans Coast, who grew up sorrounded by fresh and widely accessible fish dishes. When I made him to try, he wanted more but place already was closed! And he stated as he would proudly take his parents parents to eat fish and chips in Scotland! I have been living in this country for 17 years and I never had such a great fish and chips even in the restaurants where I was paying at least double price!

Fish was fresh, well cooked and perfectly tender moist and crispy, chips nowhere near what you get here - fresh and crispy. Tartare sauce - truly home made high quality and great flavour!

All of that only for £11!!!!

No, I rarely post reviews, but place and the Chef who is the owner deserved to be recognised and praised for his dedication in creating such a great take away! Moreover i had taken my time I found out as the Chef comes from the Michelin Star background, so I am not surprised what was delivered to me!!!

I dont know really what to say anymore here. Just wanted truly to express my appreciation to Chef for his honesty, quality and dedication for creating FINALLY the BEST FISH AND CHIPS DELIVERED...

I always praised this place. lately one order - fish was not great, but I thought it can happen sometimes , even the batter was different than before, closer to standard of commercial batter used in any of the fish and chips take aways .

However the next order after that not great went beyond. Order number #1EEEB

I asked for extra onion on pizza which I paid for and extra onion for the burgers onthe notes as there is no option to add it via product selection.

I received the burgers with massive thick slices of onions about 1/2- 3/4 inch which clearly showed as they were prepared for the onion rings. nobody even bother to add standard slice of onion or dieced onion! also there was not relish added to the hurgerd as before!

pizza had exactly the same size of onions prepared for the onion rings chopped into chunky cubes! the worst- the were not baked with the pizza but added after pizza was taken out of the oven. completely raw!

I started ordering their regularly, praised the owner, left good reviews, promoted this place within my worplace, friends and family. till now.... i just cant imagine how someone can be so deribaletely lazy....

I am sorry Chef Spencer ( i hope ypu didnt prepare this order,) but whoever did it definately forced your regular to go somewhere else unfortunately 😕

so shame as this place started very well.... but standard couldnt be consistent 😞

i do not expect any compensation or apologies as this is simple lazziness and negliegancd of standards which were high...
