I have been in this pub few times and always enjoyed my pint, atmosphere and service there. Today was different. I have not experienced such an attitude from staff ever. I was there around 12pm with a client and we just wanted a roll and I asked for a cup of tea. The barman said it was fine, walked away and started mumbling to himself âcup of tea? This is not a coffee shop, itâs a pub!â He did it at least twice while pacing between the bar and the kitchen and we could clearly hear it. I was shocked and said to him that i am ok and I wonât have a tea here. Than a lady came out of the kitchen and said that she will make me a cup of tea and that she doesnât mind :0 I said I am fine and told her that the barman minds! The barman than denied what he said earlier told her not to worry about me! That was the most peculiar situation...
   Read moreCask & Barrel (Broughton Street) is a classical pub in Edinburgh. It has some tables also outside, but given the rainy weather in Scotland, I recommend to sit inside if there is space. Sitting inside gives you the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of the pub (even if it may be a bit noisy at times). Inside it is also possible to watch sports on big screens. The pub offers all the usual drinks of a pub starting from beer and whysky (Scottish classics). Definitely advised if you want to feel the Scottish vibes...

They claim that itâs ânot a valid form of identity in the UK,â which I genuinely have never heard. I have lived here for 1.5 years and have never had that problem.
