The Ranch Sighthill — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I'll start on a high. Wyatt burger was actually very good. Cooked well and good taste. Came very well packaged, nice and hot and also not squished which was a bonus. Sweet potato fries were also very good. Somehow survived the trip home without going soggy, another bonus.

Moving on to the Pit buffet. Brisket: just give us sliced fatty brisket. Pulled beef in what seemed to be sat in water was tasteless, tough to eat and just boring. Wings: undercooked, warmed in an oven (or maybe even a microwave 😫) congealed, stringy, flibbly and just not pleasant. Ribs: okay. Dry and tough but okay flavour. Mac and cheese: some pasta with grated cheese on top and a bit of congealed sauce. Slaw was good apparently though! Potatoes were mostly dry chorizo, was actually quite looking forward to the potatoes. Cowboy beans were literally a tin of Heinz with a bit of BBQ sauce, tomato and onion 🤷🏼‍♂️

Free churros were a nice bonus and ended the meal on a high.

I can understand proper smoked meat would be twice the price and much harder work but atleast show some of the meat some flames, LOOKING AT YOU CHICKEN WINGS. Stop pulling your brisket, give us some decent barky slices. And also stop drowning everything in sauce.

Not sure if we have been blessed with epic smoked meat in the past from the likes of (maybe a few years ago) reds true BBQ etc but would not be coming back to The Ranch for the BBQ meat. 100% coming back for the burgers though as we actually really enjoyed the...

A real taste of American barbecue. These people know how to do a steak in a smoker ,slow cooked or any other way. You can really taste the effort. The level of commitment they have to making real good food. You will definitely see a different menu containing a wide variety of refreshingly great options. There is even a buffet for. 2 option(wich is great when you want to try a bit more in 1 go) There is a wide starters range. The drinks are well priced. The service is amazing! Over and beyond, nice and helpful. This place took us by surprise. You can see everything cooking and being prepared in front of you. So you can witness the passion put into every meal. The focus here is on an American styled grill. There is a nice atmosphere from the start.When you walk in ... it is all wood tables and chairs. The decoration is on point and modern. You feel welcome, and everything is clean. There is an element that things are done differently here,and you soon find out that it is just done properly. Delivered in 20 minutes from point of order - ordered via just eat and delivery driver was very pleasant.

Food arrived warm and very fresh - well packaged and decent portion sizes.

The food ordered, Ranch burger and chips was 8/10, bacon jam was the only thing that let it down, not sure how to describe it, but it was neither jam or bacon!

Bad points.....

Asked for a VAT receipt, this wasn't provided. Upon calling The Ranch, the girl on the phone informed me they don't do VAT receipts. First of all, this is important to me as I am traveling on business and need a VAT receipt to claim this back as an expense. 99% of businesses provide these as standard these days, so to not provide one does send alarm bells ringing, and for this inconvenience I will not be ordering from them again. I can only imagine I am not the first to experience this.

Note to The Ranch - Food, delivery and customer service was almost perfect, so well done guys/girls! Please sort the VAT situation out, or at least inform customers who request a VAT receipt before taking the order, as this causes a huge headache for people ordering food when away on...
